  We had an outstanding experience fishing Matagorda Bay with Captain Ashton this weekend. Our group included me and my three sons (ages 15, 16, and 8), and this was their first time fishing from a boat and using spinning reels. Captain Ashton was incredibly patient and took the time to make sure each of them felt comfortable and confident, which made a huge difference in their overall experience. As a father of five, I couldn't have asked for a better guide there. And despite windy and warmer conditions, Captain Ashton maintained a consistently positive attitude that really set the tone for the trip. His energy and encouragement kept everyone engaged and excited throughout the day. It was clear that he genuinely enjoys what he does, and that enthusiasm carried over to us. He was also extremely knowledgeable about the area and knew exactly where to take us. Thanks to his guidance, we had a very successful outing and caught plenty of trout and black drum for our family of 7 and still had leftovers the next day! Beyond his skills as a guide, Captain Ashton was personable, friendly, and easy to spend time with—something that really matters on a trip like this. He created an environment that was both relaxed and productive, which made it enjoyable for both the kids and me. I would highly recommend Captain Ashton to anyone considering a trip in Matagorda Bay, whether you’re experienced or brand new to fishing. He’s a great guy and a great guide who knows how to deliver a fun, success focused, and memorable experience for all ages.

  From the moment we stepped onto the marina, Captain Ashton did a fantastic job of getting us settled in and making us feel welcome. He took us straight to a spot to target trout and we limited out within a couple hours. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to answer any questions and give great tips. He put us right on the fish, even with some unfavorable tide conditions. I’d highly recommend booking him with no reservations at all. Thanks again, Captain Ashton!

  September fishing trip

  We had an awesome time out on the water the fish bite was slow at times and a lot of undersized fish were caught, but our Captain was persistent with his search for us to catch some keepers. We were grateful for his efforts and he was really nice and went over on time to get his us some fish caught. Thx

  Wanted to take my teenage boys out fishing for the first full day of summer. Captain Ashton was awesome and made the day even more special than I could have asked for. Lots of fish caught, so many my youngest and I had to take a break. Captain Ashton was kind enough to let my youngest steer the boat which for him was better than landing the largest catch. All in all we will definitely be using Captain Ashton again when we get the chance.

  Great day on the water with Captain Ashton. Easy, quick meet up to get started and out on the water. Captain Ashton was great with the kids and he did everythig possible to put fish in thr cooler. Great trip! Definitely will be booking with Captain Ashton again and definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great captain anf experience.
