As we start to transition into our normal summer pattern, the mahi and other pelagic fish start to move out. There are still some hanging around, but as the move out the grouper start to move in. Captain Brian took these guys out in search of mahi, wahoo and tuna. They did not have red hot action but they succeeded in catching one of every species! Once the trolling action slowed they slid inshore a few miles and caught some bottom fish to round out the box. They had a great day out on the ocean and hopefully we will see them back soon! We have been so busy lately and I have just been terrible about posting, however fishing has been great! Captain Keith had a great 4 hour nearshore trip with some young kids that wanted some action. They started out trolling for Spanish mackerel and ended up catching enough for dinner. After that they decided to see if they couldn't wrangle some sharks, and that they did! Our charter today was a guy that we normally take out once a year and he always seems to luck out with the weather and fishing. This morning he showed up but the rest of his crew didn’t make it. No worries, we still headed offshore. Upon arrival I knew fishing was going to be good. Conditions were perfect and the fish were everywhere! We caught mahi all day. These guys wanted to go tug on some fish and we certainly did that! We ran out to 90 feet of water and dropped some live baits down to the bottom. It was non stop action, they yanked on big red snapper, amberjacks and gag grouper. They pulled on fish until they had enough. We had a great day out on the water, we fished in the 90 - 110 foot range and had non stop action all day! Tons of big red snapper, a couple grouper, plenty of vermillion snapper and triggerfish. The fishing is hot right now!
