Today’s excursion took us approximately 25 miles off the coast of Cancun, targeting the deep blue waters where the current breaks provide ideal hunting grounds for pelagic species. It was a high-action session characterized by aggressive strikes and world-class variety. The "Sea Hunter V" proved to be a formidable platform, maintaining steady positioning as we navigated the offshore swells to find the most productive honey holes.
The Catch Breakdown
The day resulted in a prestigious variety of catches, hitting the primary targets for both sport and table fare:
1 Sailfish: The pinnacle of the trip. Hooked 25 miles out, this billfish put up a legendary fight with multiple aerial displays before a successful release.
1 Wahoo: A "blue-water torpedo" caught on a high-speed troll. Its blistering initial run was the highlight of our mid-morning haul.
1 Tuna: A solid, deep-diving that required significant muscle to bring to the surface.
2 Bottom Fish: After the surface action, we transitioned to deep-dropping near the underwater ledges, successfully landing two heavy-duty bottom dwellers.
