First King Salmon Success in Ketchikan! Nothing beats the thrill of a first-time catch, especially when it’s an absolute beauty of a King Salmon right here in Ketchikan! We recently took Abby out on the water for a trip she won't soon forget. It was an incredible day, and she handled the rod like an absolute pro, fighting a strong, hard-running King. The tension was high, but we got it safely in the net and landed a prize—a bright, icy-fresh Alaska King Salmon! The action on the boat was top-tier: The Battle: Abby hooked into a powerful fish that put up a classic King Salmon fight. The Net: Timing is everything with these big fish, and nailing the net job sealed the victory. The Payoff: The pure joy of holding up a beautiful, fresh-run Alaska King! Whether you are a seasoned angler or looking to land your very first big fish, the boat is dialed in, the gear is ready, and the local knowledge is locked down to make it happen. May is just the start of the action—the season is officially heating up and the fish are here! Ready to get out on the water and make some memories of your own? Check our calendar right here on FishBooker to view open availability and secure your dates. The salmon are running—let’s go fishing!

Ketchikan Fishing Report: Mountain Point
Ketchikan Fishing Report: Mountain Point
Juni 8, 2026
Ketchikan Fishing Report: Opening Day Kings at Mountain Point Welcome to our latest Ketchikan fishing report. Today, June 8, 2026, marks the official opener for the Mountain Point Terminal Harvest Area, and we got an early start on the water this morning to kick off the season. Despite the chilly, rainy, and misty June weather—and plenty of boat company out there—heading out at first light paid off on the 4 C’s. Sarah and I managed to land two nice local Kings before heading back to the dock early. One was a beautiful, bright, ocean-fresh fish that is incredibly fat (featured in our main photo). The other was a bit darker colored, but still packed with oil and fat, which is going to make for some incredible smoked salmon later this week. Mountain Point Regulations & Boundaries (June 8 – June 14) For anyone planning to head out this week, the Mountain Point, George Inlet, and Carroll Inlet waters are officially open for king salmon retention from today, June 8th, through June 14th under Emergency Order #26-4029. These are surplus hatchery-produced fish originating from the Whitman Lake and Deer Mountain facilities, as well as the Carroll Inlet remote release. Projected returns to these facilities exceed broodstock needs, making a great surplus available for sport anglers. Important Boundary Reminder: Be sure to watch your lines. The salt waters just outside of the specific terminal harvest lines remain closed to King retention until June 15th for the Mountain Point section. If you are moving between multiple areas, make sure you don’t have a King in your possession while actively fishing in a closed zone. Book a Trip with Campbell Fishing Charters
