Mahi Mahi & Shark Action at La Herradura

On the morning of July 30, ADRENALINA 2.0 departed Cabo San Lucas at 6:30 AM for a 4-hour fishing charter, heading toward the San Jaime area. At 7:05 AM, we deployed our trolling spread consisting of two rigged dead baits and four trolling lures: a short Petrolero, short Chihuili, long Coca-Cola, and long blue-and-pink lure. About 30 minutes after setting the spread, one of the long lures—the Coca-Cola lure—was hit by a mahi mahi (dorado). After a fun fight, we successfully landed an approximately 8-pound dorado, which the guests decided to keep for dinner. We continued trolling for another hour without additional bites. Unfortunately, three members of the group became seasick and requested to return to the marina earlier than scheduled. On the afternoon of July 29, ADRENALINA 2.0 departed Cabo San Lucas at 2:00 PM for a 4-hour charter. We ran straight offshore to approximately 3 miles outside the bay in search of feeding yellowfin tuna. After finding no productive tuna activity, we changed course north toward the San Jaime area. Our trolling spread consisted of two rigged dead baits and four artificial lures: a Flying Fish lure, Chihuili, Petrolero, and a purple lure. At 3:45 PM, the action began when a striped marlin struck the short rigged dead bait. After a solid hookup by the mate, the fish put on an exciting 40-minute fight before being successfully brought alongside the boat. The marlin was briefly brought aboard for photos with the anglers and was then safely released in excellent condition. As we headed back toward Cabo, we had one more exciting opportunity. About half a mile later, the captain spotted another striped marlin finning on the surface. After circling the fish, it aggressively attacked the Petrolero lure, but unfortunately it failed to hook up and swam away. On the afternoon of July 29, during our Golden Hour trip aboard ADRENALINA 2.0, we headed offshore on a 240° course in search of pelagic species. About 5 miles off the coast, we encountered a large pod of dolphins actively feeding with a school of yellowfin tuna. Recognizing the opportunity, we quickly cast a live bait into the feeding frenzy. Moments later, a powerful yellowfin tuna took the bait, beginning an exciting battle. The fish made several long, powerful runs, testing both the angler and the tackle. After an intense 30-minute fight, we successfully landed an impressive 70-pound yellowfin tuna.
