RockenReel Sportfishing reporting the 3 B's Calico Bass, nice Pacific Barracuda and Bonito right oit front on a 3 hr today Yesterday some big fish hit on the troll only 2 miles right out front. The clients could not get them in quick enough and they shook us several times. Water was 71.8 degrees today which is very high temperatures for this time of year We have been doing back to back 3 hour charters the last couple days and the Dorado (mahi- mahi) and Yellowtail (Amberjack) have been 12 -28 miles out and a 6 hr or more is needed today to get the trophy fish Tomorrow they could be 3 miles out front of the harbor These fast moving Big Pelagic fish boince around quickly. Water is warm and anything is possible right now- good fishing! Yellowfin Tuna just stsrtef showing strong 14 miles out. Great offshore fishing for longer trips right now. - Captain Steve

RockenReel Sportfishing reporting 8 foot Mako Shark today- jumped over a half dozen times and snapped our 500lb test leader that had a 10 foot steel leader on it with a fat sharp hook.The crew went 14 miles out today and did not track down any Dorado or Yellowtail so far. Today's highlight so far is a small Mako Shark about 3 feet long- great eating and lots of good white meat. MAKO STEAKS LOOK AND TASTE JUST LIKE SWORDFISH. Captain Noah said he is going to take the clients to one of our spots to catch Bass and Barracuda before they go in. This spot is the point just a few minutes out of our small harbor.There were Big Yellowtail at the point only 150 yards off the beach two days ago. BOOYA - Captain Steve * pictures are froom a 12 foot Mako Shark we battled July 5th, 2026. Today they did not get any video. Im going to install a go- pro camera on our vessels this week to capture all the adrenaline pumping action.

RockenReel Sportfishing July 10, 2026 fish report for six pack charters in Dana Point Harbor, CA - Giant Dorado (mahi-mahi) just showed up only 14 miles out! Yellowtail (Amberjack) anywhere from 60 feet and up! Barracuda, Bass abd Bonito bite is wide open. Big Mako Sharks, Small Mako Sharks everywhere! Good luck and good fishing. - Captain Steve

RickenReel Sportfishing fish report for Southern California Anglers- Client Today 7/9/26 said its the best trip he has ever had. Charter was a 6 hour w/ gradfather and his grandsons. Client said better than Alaska, Mexico, Hawaii and Newport Beach. BOOYA SEE REVIEW FOR John on 7/9/2026. Mako Sharks, Yellowtail, Dorado, Calico Bass, Pacific Barracuda and Bonito are HOT right now!
