Cabo Fishing Report – 4 Marlin Released
Blue Sky Cabo Fishing Charter and Tours
43' Riviera Blue Sky – Cabo Fishing Report
July 7, 2023
Four marlin released in only five hours made July 7, 2023 an exceptional Cabo morning for Kyle from Tampa, Florida, and his companion aboard the 43' Riviera Blue Sky.
The two guests departed F Dock at IGY Marina at 6:00 AM for a private morning charter. Kyle's group had upgraded to the larger 43' Riviera, giving two anglers considerable space aboard the boat.
By the scheduled 11:00 AM return, they had experienced four separate marlin encounters.
All four marlin were released.

Fishing Report Starts With an Upgrade to Blue Sky
Kyle and his companion began their Friday morning by stepping aboard the 43' Riviera Blue Sky.
With only two guests on a 43-foot private sportfishing yacht, there was plenty of room for the anglers while the crew concentrated on finding fish.
The boat departed F Dock at 6:00 AM.
A five-hour charter creates a relatively compact fishing window because travel time away from Cabo San Lucas Marina and the return to F Dock are included in the total trip.
The crew therefore needed to make effective use of the morning.
They did.
The result was four marlin.
Cabo Fishing Produces Four Marlin in Five Hours
Catching one marlin can define an entire fishing vacation.
Experiencing four during a five-hour charter puts the morning into a different category.
Each fish creates a separate sequence.
There is the initial opportunity, the hookup and the immediate activity required aboard the boat.
The crew manages tackle and positions the vessel while the angler concentrates on maintaining pressure and responding to the movements of the fish.
Once the marlin reaches the boat, attention turns toward completing the encounter responsibly.
Kyle and his companion went through that process four times before returning to the marina.
For two anglers, that represented an impressive amount of billfish action.
Fishing Report Conditions Add Historical Context
Historical conditions help document what the morning was like beyond the catch total.
Air temperature was approximately 80°F around the 6:00 AM departure and climbed toward approximately 84°F as the morning progressed.
Cabo-area water temperature was around 79°F.
Winds during the early fishing period were approximately 9–12 mph.
The moon was in its waning gibbous phase with approximately 78% illumination.
Those conditions help describe the day, but weather statistics alone never explain four marlin.
The crew still had to locate productive water and respond to the fishing activity developing around the boat.
Offshore success can depend on a combination of current, bait concentrations, water conditions, birds and visible gamefish activity.
On July 7, those efforts produced repeated marlin opportunities.
Cabo Report Records Four Responsible Releases
Blue Sky Cabo is a marlin and billfish release company.
All four marlin caught during Kyle's charter were released.
A release does not prevent an angler from preserving the memory of a trophy fish.
Photographs and accurate measurements can be used to produce a fiberglass replica representing the size and appearance of the actual marlin.
The angler keeps the trophy while the fish returns to the ocean.
On a day with four marlin encounters, that philosophy meant four fish were able to swim away after providing Kyle's group with an unforgettable morning.
Fishing Report Shows the Value of a Five-Hour Charter
Blue Sky Cabo offers private five-, six-, eight- and ten-hour fishing trips.
Longer charters provide additional searching time and range, which can become important when target species are farther offshore.
But longer does not automatically mean better fishing.
Every day is different.
Sometimes anglers need additional time to locate fish.
On other mornings, productive fishing develops early enough for a five-hour trip to deliver outstanding action.
Kyle's July 7 charter is a strong example.
The 43' Riviera Blue Sky departed at 6:00 AM.
The scheduled return was 11:00 AM.
Between those two times, Kyle and his companion experienced four marlin.
