July 21, 2023 – Cabo Fishing Report – 1 Marlin Released – 32' Luhrs Blue Star – Captain Jorge – 6 Hours – 1 Fish
Pam and one additional guest from the Dallas area departed Cabo San Lucas at 6:00 AM aboard the 32' Luhrs Blue Star for a six-hour private fishing charter with Captain Jorge.
The final catch consisted of one marlin, successfully released.
A one-fish catch sheet can look simple, but the species matters. For many anglers traveling to Cabo, a marlin encounter is the experience they hope will define their fishing trip. On July 21, Pam's two-person group had that opportunity during a compact six-hour morning.

One Marlin Makes This Cabo Charter a Significant Fishing Report
The numerical catch volume was one.
The significance of the catch was much larger.
Marlin are among the species most strongly associated with Cabo San Lucas sportfishing. Their combination of speed, power and size makes even a single encounter capable of becoming the central memory of an entire vacation.
Captain Jorge had six hours to create that opportunity.
During Pam's July 21 charter, he did.
Captain Jorge Uses the Cabo Yacht Window for Focused Fishing
A six-hour charter requires a different approach from a 10-hour offshore day.
The captain has less time available for long exploratory runs, so decisions about where to search and how long to work an area become particularly important.
Captain Jorge departed at 6:00 AM and had until approximately noon before Blue Star needed to return.
Within that window, the crew connected Pam's group with a marlin.
Releasing the Marlin Makes This Cabo Fishing Yacht Record Complete
The fish was released after the encounter.
Blue Sky Cabo practices marlin release because the value of these fish extends well beyond a single catch. They are an important part of the offshore ecosystem and one of the foundations of Cabo's international sportfishing reputation.
Release allows guests to experience the fight while giving the fish the opportunity to continue through the offshore environment.
For historical reporting purposes, the distinction matters.
This was not simply one marlin caught.
It was one marlin caught and released.
Two Guests Experience a Private Cabo Charter From the Fishing Yacht
Pam's group consisted of only two guests.
That created a highly personal charter aboard Blue Star, with the day's fishing opportunities shared between two people rather than a large party.
Lunch was included for both guests.
They were also staying at Garza Blanca Los Cabos, making the fishing charter part of their broader Los Cabos visit.
A private six-hour schedule gave them an early start while still returning around midday.
Summer Cabo Conditions Add Context to This Yacht Fishing Report
July 21 fell firmly within Cabo's summer fishing season.
Historical conditions around the date indicate morning air temperatures in the low 80s, rising toward the upper 80s by midday. Offshore water was approximately 80°F.
The moon was in a waxing crescent phase.
Those conditions help document the environment surrounding the charter, but they should not be interpreted as a formula for catching marlin.
Bait movement, currents, water structure and the captain's decisions remain important variables on every fishing day.

Pam's July 21 charter is a useful example of why Cabo fishing reports should record more than catch volume.
Only one fish appears in the final total, but that fish was a marlin.
Captain Jorge used the six-hour morning aboard Blue Star to create the opportunity, Pam's group experienced one of Cabo's signature offshore gamefish, and the marlin was successfully returned to the water.
For anglers researching historical July fishing in Cabo San Lucas, this report documents a simple but meaningful result: two guests, six hours, one marlin and a successful release.
