Cabo Fishing Report – Afternoon Dorado Action Aboard the 43' Blue Sky
Blue Sky Cabo Fishing Charter and Tours
43' Blue Sky Riviera – Cabo Fishing Report
August 1, 2023
Seven adults boarded the 43' Blue Sky Riviera at F Dock for a 2:00 PM departure, choosing an afternoon fishing window rather than the traditional sunrise start. Only four hours were scheduled, but the crew found enough dorado activity to produce eight fish before the 6:00 PM return.
All eight dorado were retained.

Four Hours of Cabo Fishing Turns Productive
Shorter charters put additional importance on efficiency.
The Blue Sky had four scheduled hours from departure to return, leaving less time for an extended offshore search. The crew needed to identify productive water and make the most of the opportunities that developed.
Eight dorado provided the answer.
Dorado can move considerable distances as they follow bait and favorable water. Rather than depending entirely on a fixed fishing location, crews can use visual clues such as birds, floating material, bait concentrations and surface activity to help identify areas worth working.
The Blue Sky located active fish and turned the afternoon into a multi-fish outing.
No Dredge Needed for This Cabo Dorado Bite
This charter did not include a dredge.
The eight-fish result therefore came from the crew's regular approach and its ability to find fish within a limited window.
Once dorado become active around a trolling spread, the situation can change quickly. A single encounter can lead to additional opportunities, particularly when several fish are traveling or feeding together.
Keeping presentations in productive water and reacting efficiently can become just as important as the initial search.
Afternoon Cabo Fishing Adds a Social Element
This wasn't simply an offshore fishing trip.
The seven adults also had lunch and an open bar aboard the 43' Riviera, giving the charter a relaxed social component alongside the fishing.
An afternoon departure can be particularly appealing for groups that don't want a predawn start but still want genuine offshore action.
On August 1, that schedule worked exceptionally well.
The Blue Sky departed at 2:00 PM, caught eight dorado without using a dredge, and returned at 6:00 PM after a concentrated afternoon on Cabo waters.
For seven adults aboard a 43' Riviera, the four-hour window proved more than enough to create a productive summer fishing experience.
