We headed out early for a morning half day fishing charter in Everglades National Park, and conditions were excellent — Sunny with about 15mph winds.
The Mangrove Snapper bite was absolutely dialed in, with consistent action throughout the day. Spotted Seatrout have also been around we were able to catch several nice ones for dinner. We sent some quality Mangrove Snapper and Spotted Sea trout home for a fresh Florida Keys dinner, while the rest were carefully released to fight another day.
The trips showstopper was the long fight on a 40lb Goliath grouper with light tackle back in the mangroves it can prove to be a tough battle.
Overall, it was a fantastic half day Everglades National Park fishing charter — great weather, steady action, and plenty of smiles back at the dock. If you're looking to experience backcountry fishing in the Florida Keys, conditions are shaping up nicely summer is around the corner which is my favorite time of year to fish.
