I've been on 2 fishing trips in the 2 weeks we have been here. Fishing has been hit or miss in the ocean but the sound is producing a nice mix of croaker, spot, some blues

Driftin’ Along Charters
I would suggest to take a long trip. Try to do a mix of fishing types. We did trolling and bottom fishing. I was surprised, but I think more of my group ended up enjoying the bottom fishing more than trolling.

I’m not sure I can recommend much. I really like Wanchese. For those on their first fishing trips bring a cooler to take your catch home. All the folks there are helpful and friendly.
They clean your fish on site and charge based on weight. The crew who cleans the fish are great. They have an ATM on site. If you don’t want to pay fees bring cash. Tip the cleaning crew, they’re great! And, cash is king!

Be patient. Flounder take a minute to fully bite sometimes. with the smaller fish no patience needed, they just bite immediately.
also 7 am is worth it if you can get up in time. it helps you stay cool out there.

Book a trip with Salty Dawg Fishing Charters and Captain Harvey. We were fishing Ocean Isle Beach for the first time and had an awesome experience. Captain Harvey was great with our group and kept us on the fish. We caught everything from toadfish and sea bass to Spanish mackerel, then ended the trip battling a couple of sharks. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip and something I’d recommend to anyone fishing Ocean Isle for the first time!
