Great day with great people

P&L were great company and experienced anglers with a deep respect for Alaska’s pristine environment and varied opportunities for fishing. Conditions were highly favorable with light winds and decent cloud coverage shielding us from the sun. We cruised about ten miles from town to ditch the crowds and set the pick to make a deeper drop in pursuit of halibut, for catch-and-release. Nailed a couple of nice Pacific cod there, but the bite was light so we switched to light rods and tucked against the shoreline of a nearby inlet to target lingcod and rockfish. Had a great time reeling up and releasing a wide variety of species off the ledges there, while watching a harbor seal tend to her pup nearby and bald eagles swooping down for meals. An excellent morning soaking in the great majesty of Southeast Alaska, far from the crowds. Didn’t feel like a working day at all! Picture above is of a portion of the coastline where we were fishing. I’m usually busy chatting with clients or tending to lines and forget to take pictures of our catches…I’ll try to grab pics of the fish next time.
