Your Fishing Charter

Based in Palmas Del Mar, Curate Fishing Charters offers amazing fishing adventures year round. Captain Alberto quit his 9-5 job to pursue the dream of being a full time fishing guide. He has fished and spearfished all his life in almost all of the main destinations over the world including, Florida Keys, Panama, Australia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Dominican republic to name a few.

Captain Alberto takes techniques learned from his trips and learns to apply them to future quests. Each trip, he collects data on water temperature, moon phases, chlorophyll concentration, times the tide changes, and fish migration patterns. After years of collecting this information, the odds of being in the right place and the right time increase drastically.

You'll be fishing on a 26' center console that accommodates up to 4 guests. 

Inshore trips are more for novice anglers as there tends to be more action. In one day, you'll have the option to troll, vertical jig, deep drop, and bottom fish. If the fish don’t want to bite on the troll, you can opt for another type of fishing. This style of fishing is never monotonous because of the constant change. Main targets are Barracuda, King Mackerel, Tuna, and Jacks on the troll. Bottom/Deepdropping Blackfin Snapper, Queen Snapper, Yelloweye Snapper, Yellowtail, and Grouper.

Offshore trips are for hardcore anglers, ready to wait for their bite for hours. You can go after Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, and Marlin. And as a special treat, there's an extended adventure that specifically targets Swordfish. 

All fish can be either scaled whole or fileted. You can bring sunblock, snacks, and Dramamine if you get sea sick.

Offshore trips are for those who like longer periods of waiting with larger fish. Offshore trips are a 10-22 mile run to offshore seamounts that come up from 5,000 feet to 200. The peak holds bait that attracts Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, and Marlin.

Not sure if fishing is for you? Trolling two hours on the reef or bottomfishing can be a great economical way to find out. If youre having fun extend the trip! 2 people minumum +50 additional person after 2.

Limited offer 2 Hours on the Reef

The best type of fishing for those looking with less fishing experience. There is more action and short runs. I start the morning trolling for Barracuda, Jack, and King Mackerel. Depending on the conditions, you'll have the option to vertical jig, bottom fish with chicken rigs, or use electric reels for deep dropping. The high success rate on catching rock hind Yellowtails and Grouper, and 3-4 different species of deepwater Snapper.

4 Hour Trip – Nearshore

First Part of the day involves trolling for bait on the reef, once we catch the bait we drift 3 rods over deep reef. Sharks most commonly found are silkies, nurse sharks and carribean reef! On special days you can hook into tiger sharks or hammerheads !

Catch and Release Shark Fishing

You can choose to have a longer nearshore day within 5 miles or run out 8-13 miles offshore. Nearshore fishing includes species such as King Mackerel, Amberjack, Barracuda, and Blackfin Tuna. It can be combined with vertical jigging with bottom fishing for groupers and snappers. Offshore fishing is mainly trolling for pelagic species such as Mahi Mahi, Tunas, and Wahoo.

6 Hour Trip – Nearshore/Offshore

The spearfishing trip can be anything from an intro course to spearfishing to blue water and yellowfin trips for wahoo. The intro trip involves a basic introduction to freediving and then hunting technique on a shallow 15-foot reef. Experience and basic gear freedive gear is required for deep reef and blue water trips. Must be comfortable diving 25-50 feet. Diving is done with flashers and chum over targeted structure. 

Reef or Blue Water Spearfishing

During summer pilchards migrate into the marina. At the same time blackfin, king mackerel and occasional mahi mahi come into the reef making action packed day with a very short run. If live bait is available day consists of vertical jigging for two hours and live baiting for two hours.

Daytime Swordfishing trips are for extreme anglers that can go 10-11 hours without a bite. I am the only captain to offer daytime Swordfishing trips in Puerto Rico. It's 14 miles run to the spot and two rods are fished in 1,600 to 1,800 feet of water where they spend time in the day. Pound for pound they are the hardest fighting fish in the ocean often referred to as gladiators. It's not uncommon to fight them for 3-4 hours.
