Your Fishing Charter

Old Timer Charters is a full-service fishing charter on Lake Erie. They are based out of Erie, Pennsylvania and offer half and full day trips throughout the year.

Captain Vince Silvaggi, who owns and operates the charter has fished Lake Erie his whole life and it was a clear choice for him to run charters here. After all, who better to take you fishing than a local?

Capt. Vince offers a variety of trips from May through September. During this time, Lake Erie, known as the Walleye capital of the world, becomes a hub of the Walleye enthusiasts. You will target these hard-fighting fish by trolling the eastern basin of Lake Erie. Lake Trout, Steelhead, and Perch are also abundant in the lake.

Fishing is done aboard a 26’ Striper walkaround with a capacity for up to 3 anglers. Powered by twin 150 HP Johnson engines, with a maximum cruising speed of 46 knots, the boat will get you to the fishing grounds in no time.

The captain will use a GPS and a fishfinder to locate the schooling fish, and there’s a live bait well on board and a cooler for your catch. Your guide will provide top quality rods and reels such as Okuma, Daiwa, Shimano, Fish Hawk, and more. Tackle, bait, a first mate, and fish cleaning are also included in the trip’s price.

The vessel also has a porta potty on board which is a big plus when you’re spending the whole day on the water or are taking kids fishing.

Please make sure you have a valid Pennsylvania fishing license with Lake Erie permit and Trout stamp if fishing for Steelhead or Lake Trout. Don’t forget to stock up on food, snacks, and drinks as well.

Dedicate 4 hours to chasing Steelhead on Lake Erie and come home with a cooler full of fish fillets. These beautiful fish are available year-round, they're fun to catch and even better to eat. Pack drinks, snacks, and your fishing license.

Half Day Trip – Steelhead (AM)

This is a 4-hour trolling trip for Walleye in the eastern basin of Lake Erie. A valid Pennsylvania fishing license is necessary. Departure time will vary from 6:00 to 7:00 a.m., depending on the time of the year.

Half Day Trip – Walleye (AM)

Rise and shine and spend your morning going after Lake Trout for 4 hours. Capt. Vince will provide all the fishing gear you need, all you have to do is put it to good use. That won't be hard, because the Trout bite is excellent. Remember to buy a fishing license with a Trout Stamp.

Half Day Trip – Lake Trout (AM)

If you are after a healthy dose of Lake Trout, this is your trip. Rods, reels, tackle, and bait will be provided for the trip. On your end, you should bring snacks, drinks, and of course, a valid fishing license with a Trout Stamp.

Half Day Trip – Lake Trout (PM)

The Walleye bite in the eastern basin of Lake Erie is impressive any time of the day so you can be sure that the afternoon fishing action will be strong. All you need for this excursion is a valid fishing license, some snacks, and refreshments.

Half Day Trip – Walleye (PM)

Chase Lake Trout in the spring months and see how quickly you can catch your limit. The expedition is available from March through June. Steelhead, Perch, and Walleye are also in the cards. A valid fishing license with appropriate stamps is a must, and don't forget a supply of food and drinks.

Full Day Trip – Lake Trout (Spring)

This full day trip will give you 8 amazing hours on Lake Erie and a chance to target Steelhead. They are present year-round and a joy to catch, because they're excellent fighters. You'll need a fishing license with a Trout Stamp for this trip, and you'll definitely want some food and drinks on this longer expedition.

Trolling for Walleye in the eastern basin of Lake Erie is a treat, especially when you get to do it for 8 hours. A valid Pennsylvania fishing license is necessary here, and you should also think about bringing food and drinks to keep you energized.

Full Day Trip – Walleye

Spend 8 hours on Lake Erie chasing Lake Trout. These fall trips are available from October through December. At the same time, you could be catching Steelhead and Perch until November. Don't forget your fishing license with the Lake Erie permit and Trout Stamp, and some drinks and food are also a good idea.
