This is the third year in a row we have went out with Ronnie.  It was myself and two 17 year old boys this year.  Ronnie is a great guy and is like fishing with an old high school buddy except this high school buddy is really good at fishing.  We weren’t as successful as years past as the weather wasn’t ideal only bringing home 3 big red’s and one trout, but we caught 12 or so overall and had a great time doing it.  He showed the boys how to dress them all out and packaged them up for the trip home.  Will be doing it again next year.

We had a fantastic time with Captain Ronnie. He was so patient and did a great job of keeping our hooks baited and in the water. He was very accommodating and worked around the weather issues to make sure we had a good experience.  We caught trout, red fish, and catfish. I even caught a crab and a sting ray. The best part of the day was seeing the dolphins and a manatee on our way back in. He was as excited as we were to see the manatee. We spent several minutes just watching those majestic animals! This was our first experience with a guided trip. I had envisioned being farther out and catching bigger fish. However, I think we got exactly what we paid for. We still had a wonderful time and brought home supper! Next time we will book the whole day! We highly recommend Ronnie as a guide.

Booked an inshore AM trip w Captain Ronnie for early August. We were specifically looking for an inshore trip to catch good eating fish. Ronnie knows his stuff and promised a “mess of trout”. I was all little worried bc the trout I’ve had in the past was always cooked whole and I didn’t love it. But he said to trust him.  He called the night before our Monday trip to let us know we were likely looking at storms for Monday- but would keep us updated. Sure enough, we were rained out so he offered a refund, an afternoon trip or AM trip later in the week. We opted for the AM trip later.

The boat was in good shape. We’ve booked on bigger/newer boats in the past but this one was a nice smooth ride on some pretty choppy water and plenty of room for 3 of us to fish. Capt Ronnie was able to maneuver the smaller boat into some areas where I’m sure other larger boats wouldn’t have been able to.  His 9yo son was a pretty impressive first mate- helping him to keep our hooks baited and the boat spotlessly clean.

Just as Capt Ronnie predicated, we caught a whole “mess of trout”. The bite was steady for most of the day (aside from when we got a quick pop-up shower) and when things slowed down, he’d move us to a new spot. Total, I’d estimate we caught about 40+ fish between the 3 of us in the 4 hours we were on the water and kept 26.
Capt Ronnie provided the exact trip we asked for. Lots of fish for our table. He cleaned and filleted them for us and they fried up soooooo yummy. We plan to book with him again next year.

Great trip out with Captn. Ron.  Started with the dredge.  Really neat to learn about the shrimp, squid, baitfish types, jellies etc as he sorted them and why because some baits can hurt you or each other.  As Captn Ron said, “..it’s a rough neighborhood”. We got on some big fish quick.  20 minute fight on light tackle you learn a lot fast.  Ron did great maneuvering the boat and coaching my son. Then the weather ran us in. Unwelcome water spout was a bonus.
Took a break, let it pass and had a snack then back out at it.  Boys wanted sharks and they got them.  Manageable size sounded good to us as they are no joke.  Definitely very flexible if/when things change, and they will so very family friendly.  Kids want to do it again next time down.  FYI kids did awesome, waves started to get to me so I recommend the prescription patch if in there is any chance your sensitive.

Captain Ronnie is amazing, he really tries hard to catch lots of fish, if they are not biting he moves locations, we really wanted my 2 kids to have fun and they did, my son got a little sea sick and Ronnie took him back to shore to calm his tummy, he was very compassionate about how he was which meant a lot to me. We ended up with lots of speckled trout, got to catch sharks (that was really fun), and caught some kind of fish that you don’t eat but are high action on the line.  We would highly recommend Captain Ronnie, we had a blast fishing with him and would book with him again.
