I have spent over 20 years navigating and patterning the complex backwaters of Naples, Marco Island,10k islands and the Everglades. As a dedicated shallow-water specialist, my passion lies entirely in technical fly fishing and light-tackle artificial lure angling. I thrive on the strategy of the hunt and polling the shallowest flats, guiding anglers to their bucket-list backcountry catches. Whether you are a seasoned fly caster looking to refine your presentation or a light-tackle angler eager to explore the remote mangroves of Southwest Florida, my goal is to provide an elite, educational, and unforgettable day on the water.

    Awesome Guide/Awesome Trip

    Half Day Trip2 adults

Joshua knows where, when and how to get on fish. I wanted to catch my first snook and he did not disappoint. The first cast I took, I had my first photo worthy snook. After a few more fish during the morning, he pointed me to a productive wall of mangroves and a topwater connection on a 28” snook. Joshua is friendly, knowledgeable and a great dude, someone you’d be wanting to fish with often. When I return to the Naples area, this is the guy I’m calling. Great day, great equipment, great guy!

    Excellent trip!

    Half Day Trip1 adult

Josh was amazing. Clean skiff, top of the line Shimano gear, totally knowledgable on the local fishery. I really wanted to catch my first snook, and within 10 minutes of fishing I boated multiple fish. 100% will be booking Josh again if I come back to Naples.

    Captain Josh is Amazing!

    Half Day Trip2 adults

Amazing, just after one of the longest cold spells Southern Florida has seen, Capitan Josh still had his spots that did produce some good fish. Besides finding the fish, Josh will make it feel as if you were fishing with a good buddy with his friendly personality. Fished with some top rated tackle! Thanks for a wonderful time on the water.

The captain was good. Fishing was slow at the beginning and we stayed longer then scheduled time to get on the fish.

Hurricanes can potentially disrupt fishing as the weather starts to transition towards the fall. Nearshore, you will find King and Spanish Mackerel biting well, with large Bull Reds also in the cards.

Naples & 10k Backwater Fly & Light Tackl

Jun 11, 2026 • Naples
Summertime backcountry action is firing up in Naples and Marco Island, delivering incredible fly and artificial-only fishing. Snook are spawning near the passes and outward mangrove points, aggressively crushing early-morning topwater plugs and well-placed baitfish flies on the moving tides. Redfish are tightly hugging the shade of the mangrove roots and shallow oyster bar weedless soft plastics and shrimp-mimicking fly patterns. Meanwhile, acrobatic juvenile tarpon are rolling in the deeper backcountry bays and creeks. also schools of jack crevalle roam the channels, ready to smash fast-stripped streamers and topwater plugs.

End of summer into Fall fishing report

Sep 22, 2025 • Naples
inshore fishing has been solid with good catches of redfish, snook, and trout. Redfish are being found around mangrove shorelines and oyster bars, with some larger fish showing up in deeper channels. Snook action is steady, especially near the passes and docks, with early mornings and evenings producing the best bites. The bite is strongest around tides, particularly during incoming water. Pompano are also starting to show up along the beaches, and mangrove snapper are plentiful around deeper flats and structure. As the weather cools in the coming weeks, expect more consistent action, especially on snook and redfish.

Deep in the creeks when the weather isnt

Jan 1, 2024 • Naples
One of the many advantages of fishing in a skiff regardless of the weather is that you can always get into those little hidden creeks despite the weather. Its almost inpossible to not hook into a snook and maybe even a tarpon or redfish on a jig or surface plug!

Fall Fishing just ramping up!

Nov 18, 2023 • Naples
We've had some interesting weather over the last week but that hasn't stopped the fish from biting. Topwater bite has slowed down a little with the cooler temps. Spoons and Jigs with gulp have seemed to be the ticket lately when it comes to catching Snook and Redfish. I've also been finding some decent sized trout in 3-5 feet of water. With the new moon and east winds, it's made for some extremely low tides the great thing about having a skiff that can float in 5 inches of water gives me an advantage the larger bay boats don't have allowing you to have some great sight fishing opportunities.

Fall Redfish Naples to the Everglades

Oct 31, 2023 • Naples
Fall is here and we're starting to see the redfish moving into the backwaters. Working a gold spoon or a Jig with a paddle tail has seemed to be the ticket to get these fish to eat if you're lucky you might even get one to eat a topwater lure.
