We met our captain (Tyler) at the docks, and we were off. We had a short stop to gather up some live bait fish and then headed out to fish for Lane Snapper. We caught as many as we cared to keep, it then our captain asked if we wanted to go try for something bigger.

We headed out further, 8-9 miles out, and tried for Cobia, Tyler was dead on once again. We had a great time and caught many fish, sometimes we had both of us fighting a fish at the same time. We caught one keeper and threw the rest back. 

I cannot say enough good things about Capt. Tyler he was very helpful and a truly nice guy. I know we will gladly book a trip with him again when we’re back in the area.

Also, the equipment was in great shape, from the boat to the fishing tackle, I feel like anyone would have a great experience.

Our Captain William was excellent and very helpful on our charter. We missed a few big ones in the coral, but caught a nice variety of fish and had enough to bring home for a few meals. Saw a couple sea turtles as a bonus as well.

William was ready with fresh bait as we did a lot of “fish feeding” in between all of our catches. I don’t think any of us even had a chance to tell him we needed bait as he was almost telepathic in knowing who was ready for fresh bait!

We had a fantastic trip! Took my 4, 7, and 10 year old children.  Captain Tyler was great with the kids and he said we set a record for most fish caught in a 4 hour trip.  It might have something to do with my 7 year old daughter being ranked as a top 10 angler in the country. 🤷🏼♂️  As is with all charter fishing trips, tip the Captain ahead of time….50 percent of the total cost of trip will do the trick.  Then ask them to take you to THEIR favorite spots, not where they bring the “out of towners”.  Works every time.

Smokin Hooks was amazing to work with. We had our original booking for Monday and with weather coming in on Sunday they proactively reached out and rescheduled for Tuesday to have calmer seas. Our captain was personable, friendly and educational with this being our 1st booking. If you are looking for a charter that treats like a person and not a number with an overall experience look no further.

I can’t thank Capt. Tyler and Capt Andrew enough! We took our three girls (8, 9, and 11) out not just fishing for the first time, but offshore fishing for the first time as well. From the beginning Smokin Hooks was super responsive to questions, and took feedback for what we wanted to accomplish for the trip. The captains asked what we wanted to try for and I asked about trying to land a shark as my youngest is obsessed with them and the hammerhead is her favorite. Well guess what we caught, a hammerhead! She was so excited. We hit several spots so the kids could do some catch and release, we ended up with some keepers as well. Finally we went looking for a barracuda and sure enough, landed a huge one!

Captains Andrew and Tyler were super patient with the kiddos and gave them great instruction on how to do things. Really great guys. If you are looking to book a charter and especially with the family, I highly recommend Smokin Hooks.
