We had a great time going out with Captain Brian of Smokin’ Hooks fishing charters.
We chose the Happy Hour with fishing package. It was perfect for us because it is a shorter 3 hour trip that stays closer to shore. The fishing was for my son and the Happy Hour was for me, I am a little nervous on boats but Captain Brian clearly has much experience and made me feel at ease. I planned this for my son but ended up having a great time myself!
My son had an absolute blast, Captain Brian put so much effort into teaching him how to fish in those waters and celebrated every catch with him, especially the shark! Exciting day, one my son will never forget, it gave us memories that will last a lifetime.

For the time of the year, with the water temperatures still needing to rise, we still caught a TON of fish. Mostly a variety of Snapper and Groupers, perhaps not as big as they will be during the Summer, but with lite tackle, a lot of fun. Conditions early were good for KINGS and Capt. Brian set out a live fish suspended under a balloon, which took two massive hits but unfortunately did not hook-up. Had black fin tuna in area briefly as well. Capt. Brian is a GREAT fishing guide, very low key, always watching out for us and accommodating, his boat is setup perfect, as advertised it has shade over the front two seats, a wider beam which allowed plenty of room as there was three of us fishing and we had no tangle-ups, no bumping into one another, very stable platform. We would charter SMOKIN’ HOOKS again and plan to do so!

Four of us were here from across the country and had a great afternoon with Captain Brian on he’s boat. Weather was fantastic and the snapper (along with several others) almost wouldn’t stop biting!!! All four of us were very pleased with the whole experience. My parents, grandmother and I went out with Brian yesterday (3/3/18) and couldn’t have been happier. Brian was extremely friendly & super helpful with not only the fishing, but with making sure everyone was comfortable. Just a wonderful day with my son . Brian taught us a lot about fish and fishing in the gulf. We laughed a lot and it didn’t matter how much fish we caught. We had a pile fish filets for dinner and a lot of stories about our afternoon.

We boarded Smokin Hooks on a beautiful sunny day in February. Capt Brian was welcoming, funny and extremely knowledgeable. The boat was perfect for a three guests plus the captain. He was quick to get us on the fish, knowing where we were most likely to have success. We pulled in many snapper to keep for dinner. In a time of the year, were the big kings are not typically bitting, Capt Brian went above and beyond to make us happy. Heading back to shore close to our six hour mark, we saw action in the water and birds overhead. He looked to us and said “Do you guys have anywhere to be? Fishing always gets the best of me and I gotta hit that spot!” We proceeded to cast out into a big school of Mackrell for the next hour. We had an action pack end of the day! A true fisherman can’t pass up on fish thrashing and birds swooping down no matter what time the trip ends. We will 100% be taking another fishing trip with Captain Brian and recommend you choose him also!

Left the Cocohatchee Marina at 1:10pm with captain Brian Smith and hooked the first of a dozen King Mackerel by 1:45pm. Also hooked Black Fin Tuna and variety of Snapper, which were filleted and bagged by the captain at the end of the day. We spent Thanksgiving Day grilling fish, no turkey! Absolutely delicious. Captain Brian is well prepared, personable, and very safety conscious. The fishing boat is meticulously organized, clean, and the motor is powerful and quiet. Will be booking again next trip.

We booked with Smokin Hooks because they could take all six in my family. Captain mike was very patient with my grandchildren and did his best to make sure we all caught fish. Awesome trip. Capt Brian and boat were top notch. Caught tons of snapper and small grouper. Had a great time with my boys. Fought a Goliath grouper for 45 min before losing the fish. My 20 year old son was worn out. Too bad we lost it it would have been fun to see that beast.

We had a fantastic day out with Captain Brian. It started sadly with one of our party coming down sick before we could get out to the grounds. Captain Brian made sure that he was okay and brought us back to the dock so he could go back to the hotel and rest. Captain Brian then let me know that we would still have a great day fishing, and he would keep us out extra because of the lost time with our friend since he didn’t have a evening group that day. We caught many fish including a great 25 inch Grooper, but alas that one was out of season. Got great pictures and then released him. When we got back Captain Brian gave us directions to a place that would cook our catch, and that was awesome too. Thanks for a great day out Captain Brain.

Captain Mike did a great job of trying to make all three generations comfortable and successful. The only criticism I will make are regarding the topics of conversation that he brought up. As someone who works with all kinds of people, my son and I would suggest that he not talk about politics or religion or various ethnicities, although I enjoyed the story about the Chinese ladies who delighted in the fresh roe. Fishing stories are always welcome. And information about fish and nature is great.

We started out with a sunset cruise one night, which was great, followed by a full day of fishing the following day. With unusual conditions working against us, Captain Brian worked diligently to keep us on the fish. He rarely took a seat, as he was constantly baiting our hooks, taking the fish off for us, and being attentive in general. He had some great stories and was very personable; it felt like we were hanging out with an old friend by the end of the day. We also had a few surprises from mother nature: a dolphin stalked/hung out within a few feet of the Smoking Hooks for a few hours during the morning and we also got to see a loggerhead sea turtle swimming up close. Definitely recommend Captain Brian and the Smoking Hooks! Hoping to get back down in the summer!

This was one of the most fun and memorable Birthdays I have ever had! Captain Brian and Smokin’ Hooks made my day so special! It was like Heaven on Earth! We found a swirling tide hole and we saw a group of about 8 Eagle Rays, a Sea Turtle and tons of Barracudas surrounding Smokin’ Hooks!
Then it was followed by my sister Kelly and I catching Large keeper Red Groupers, Snappers and something so Monsterous on my line and after an enormous fight ... It finally broke my line! Moby Dick does exist!After our trip and Captain Brian filleting our keepers, we went to the Fish House where they cooked ou fresh catch for us!
It was one of the most fun and prosperous fishing trips we have ever had!! Thank You Captain Brian for you’re fun and knowledgable skills!

Captain Brian was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and professional. He took care of setting us up with the bait and took all our caught fish off the hooks. He knew where the fish were and we ended up filling the fish hold! Capt. Brian’s personality was over the top friendly. We will be back to fish with him again.

Captain Brian was awesome! We spoke ahead of our scheduled excursion and discussed exactly what we were hoping to catch and he prepared our excursion accordingly. He took us right to the fish! We booked a 4 hr excursion and were lucky enough to have constant action. One right after another. Captain Brian gave us our space and let us do our thing but was always near by and jumped in whenever necessary; whether it be baiting hooks removing fish, or helping with the gear if a big one was on the line. We definitely found our offshore fishing Captain and we can’t wait for him to take us out again next year!

This week had some variable weather. Monday and Tuesday were off limits. Thursday looked good but when we hit the pass it was too rough. We were still able to fish the back water and reel some in. Not the same but glad you could enjoy the trip still. Great family to bring out!

We booked this trip through Fishing Booker, and we got excellent communication from the site. The Captain was Brian Smith, and he called us a day before to make sure we had instructions to the Marina. This was not hard to find. The boat was just as promised, much better than the usual ones, with a hard top and a cabin in case someone wants to stay away from the sun. We fished 4 at a time, but we caught plenty of fish (we went close to the shore, and caught snapper, grouper and a few small sharks). There was enough activity going on to keep everyone busy. There was plenty of bait: shrimp, fish, octopus and live bait. Payment was through credit card and we were able to take the fish filets to the Fish House (nearby) where they cook your catch (for a fee). Brian will provide water, and you should bring a few snacks and plenty of sunscreen. I am sure you can try and go for bigger fish, and i would ask the captain directly about that, though you may need to plan and budget for a longer trip.

Yes, you can definitely go for a range of fish this time of year. I try make sure I bring you to the best spots based on the weather, wind, and recent bites. The past two weeks has brought a plethora of mid-range fish (Snapper, Grouper, Shark) with some larger Grouper and a few Kingfish on the 4 hour trips which are fun and keeps everyone active. I’m going on on several 6-8 hour trips this weekend targeting some larger Shark, Grouper, Kingfish, and Cobia. Most species will continue to be active throughout the Summer months and as long as the Summer afternoon storms don’t roll in too early we have time to get to more spots on the extended trips.
Glad to hear you liked the boat and the Fish House restaurants. It’s one of my favorite local seafood restaurants.

Captain Brian is on top of his game, he asked us what we were targeting then we went after it With in minutes of poles in the water we were catching fish. We did not take many pictures honestly we did not have time to. In all we must have caught 30+ fish while we were out there. Some were to small we had to throw back however we came home with plenty for a group fish fry. (Grouper, Snapper and Grunts.) You may want to stretch or exercise a bit before you go, I am writing this review the day after I am sore however I will be doing this again with Captain Brian for sure.

This was a great choice. Brian did an excellent job and worked his butt off for us. I told him I wanted to catch lots of fish, big ones, and fighting ones. He said we would start small and work our way to the bigger ones. The first stop, we caught fish after fish. It was great. We caught a lot of different kinds like white snapper, red snapper, puffer, grouper, shark, and tiger shark plus one unidentified fish. We saw a large and a small sea turtle. The fishing was great until a dolphin showed up. It was neat to see it and feed it but we moved to another spot. Fishing slowed a little but we did start catching bigger fish as well. Hooked several that broke lines. One took a lot of line and fought for a while but finally broke the line. My son fought two 8 ft tiger sharks for a while. We had a blast. John also caught the same shark twice because the second time he got it in the boat and the rig was still in his mouth. Brian’s experience and education as a boat captain was a plus to me. His equipment was top of the line. His boat has a private toilet plus an area to get out of the sun if needed. Brian is also very personable and we enjoyed talking with him. We also got some good quality fish to take home with us. Thanks Brian for a great day. Hopefully will see you next year.

Capt. Brian took myself and my family out on a sunset cruise. We had an amazing time. We cruised for a while and just took a tour of the area seeing the beaches of Bonita and Naples. Captain Brian is very friendly and extremely knowledgable of the area. We will be going back whenever we can and booking a fishing charter! He is the best!

The trip was a lot of fun. The captain was very nice and personable. We took our 11 year old son out with us and he was so excited to catch so many fish. He did catch two grouper but neither was quite big enough so we had to throw back but the thrill of the catch is all that mattered to him. The boat is very nice and does have a toilet so grandma came along as well. This was great fun and highly recommended.

Brian, the captain, was great. The weather that morning was bad and he was willing to work with us on timing and possibly rescheduling. We were on a tight schedule that we so we really wanted to get out that day. We hung around for about an hour and a half for the severe weather to pass and then went out. It was great that he was willing to do whatever we wanted as far as timing. He was willing to push it off until later on that week but the weather cleared and we had a blast.
We caught enough fish that we fed twelve people and still had leftovers. When we came back to port and Brian was cleaning our fish for us another boat came in and they had only caught one fish. You could tell the guy was not thrilled with only catching one fish when we had a pile. I was really impressed with how much we caught considering the weather was so crappy earlier that day.
The other great thing about catching so many was that I had my eleven year old son with us and he had a blast catching so many fish. Brian was working his butt off getting the fish off our lines and re-baiting the hooks. You could tell he really has a passion for what he is doing.

Our family of four—ranging in age from 17 to 57—had a thoroughly enjoyable outing with Captain Brian. He accommodated our schedule by switching an afternoon booking to the morning, provided a relaxing atmosphere on his boat and hit several spots where we were constantly pulling in fish. While we did not catch a “big one”, we had a great time. We will definitely go out with Captain Brian when we are back in the Naples area!

I’ve been out with Brian 4 times now. He’s ready to go with lots of bait and the boat is immaculate. he’s trying to get you on fish and changes things to be successful. He had us each holding a line and kept us busy catching fish. he then had a couple lines out for the barracuda and sharks
