We left the marina before 6AM when things were really getting busy. Fresh bait was purchased on our way out from some very fearless bait fishermen! The original boat that I booked was not available so I was upgraded to a larger boat at no additional charge. Went out on the bucanero with captain Martin and mate Noel. I was a little skeptical at first when almost all of the posts made a right turn at the arch and went up the Pacific side, but we went left. The crew was very friendly and did a great job. We did everything we wanted to even though the water was choppy. We caught fish, saw whales and turtles, fed a sea lion and had the best day. We kept our catch and had it cooked at the restaurant the crew recommended and it was delicious.

We caught some smaller fish but didn’t have luck with the bigger and it didn’t have anything to do with the captain or first mate they worked there ass off and made sure we enjoyed ourselves

I would not recommend a short afternoon fishing trip if you want to focus on fishing. The amount of bait is limited and when you run out, it just becomes an expensive boat trip. We did get our $20 bait fee returned but trip was already spoiled. It was my families first time out so we had requested in advance to focus on fishing. We did catch one Rooster fish, but i am sure we would have caught more if we had proper amount of bait. We did see a whale which was a plus during our trip.
