My wife surprised me with a 5-hour guided fishing trip with Captain Todd Vick. I had never river-fished before, and although excited about the opportunity, I really didn’t know what to expect. Any concerns I had were immediately alleviated as soon as I met Captain Todd at the Waccamaw Marina. After introductions and assessing my skill (or lack of skill) level, he explained exactly what we would be doing. Catching largemouth bass was the goal.

Despite a windy day, the sky was a gorgeous blue, and the scenery along the Waccamaw River was spectacular. Once we reached the first fishing spot, Captain Todd gave a brief lesson on using the artificial lures, the proper way to cast and retrieve, and most importantly, how to properly set the hook once the bass hits it. We ended up catching some and missing others. But the most important thing is that it was a ton of fun. Captain Todd made sure of that.

As much as I enjoyed talking about fishing, we spent much time discussing unrelated issues. Turns out we had a good deal in common.

The bottom line is this. If you want a fun and relaxing time on a beautiful, scenic river with an extremely knowledgeable and patient fishing guide, I highly recommend a fishing trip with Captain Todd Vick. In fact, I plan on returning in October to try my luck at fishing for crappie.

While captain Todd was getting a wind knot out of my line that we had cut from the bait, we felt a head shake on the line in the water!! We ended up landing a 1lb bass with only hands and the line itself! It’s always a fun experience on the water with Captain Todd and we always learn something new! We look forward to spending more days with him in the future. It is nothing short of amazing every time.

Another great fishing trip with Captain Todd. He took some time getting my son ready to try different techniques that he hasn’t done before. Caught some nice bass and saw some gators. Thanks again captain Todd see you soon.

Captain Todd was super friendly and very knowledgeable. We felt like we were just out fishing with a buddy that was an expert. Caught several fish and had a great time! Would definitely use Todd again!
