Ketchikan, Alaska Fishing Report July Update: Slow Start, but Salmon are Quickly Moving In The fishing season in Ketchikan, Alaska, kicked off with a slow start this July, but things are rapidly picking up as the salmon make their way into our waters. Early in the month, anglers experienced sporadic bites and fewer catches, a typical lull that tested our patience. However, as the days progressed, we began to see a significant increase in activity. Schools of Pink Salmon, Coho, and Chum Salmon are now migrating in greater numbers, revitalizing the fishing grounds and boosting both morale and success rates among fishermen.

My husband said it was the best charter he had ever been on. Caught a king salmon and 10+ mix of pinks and cod Captain Cable sent us the licensing info needed at booking, picked us up where we docked, had the forms for processing and dropped our loot off for processing. Fish were shipped home to us. First class experience. Cannot recommend enough!

Cable was great. We struggled with the Orca all day but we originally scheduled a 6hr day with Cable and he made sure every minute was worth it. Finally it was my choice to give in to nature. We caught fish and got to take home fish. I would like to plan another trip in the future.
