    Best birthday fishing trip

    My son's birthday fishing trip couldn't have gone any better! The captain went above and beyond to make the day special, and it turned into an unforgettable experience. From the moment we left the dock, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and worked hard to make sure my son had every opportunity to catch fish. Seeing the excitement on my son's face throughout the trip made this birthday gift worth every penny. He had an amazing time and is already talking about going back. We will definitely be booking another trip with the same captain in the future. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun, memorable fishing charter!

We have booked with David multiple times and every time he puts us on fish and is always a perfect day on the water. Hes always doing whatever he can to put you in the best position and technique to catch fish. Very professional, and a pleasure to spend the day with. And a great fisherman!!     amazing trip!

    Half Day Trip – Scalloping (AM) • 4 adults

    My fiancé and I come every year for scalloping and this year we had an amazing time with Captain David Maki. We met our limit, had fun and felt safe. He was very knowledgeable on where to go to find the Scallops and had resources for who to clean Scallops overall it was a great time!

    Huge thanks to Captain David for a memorable day! Not only did he put us on a variety of fish, but he was also wonderful with my daughter and her boyfriend, patiently teaching them new techniques and how-tos. The boat was exceptionally clean, and the overall experience was fantastic. We truly had a blast!

    GREAT day on the water with a Great Captain & guide.

    Half Day Trip (PM) 5 PPL MAX • 4 adults

    Our sons came to visit from out of state and we wanted to share a great day of fishing with them. Our guide, David, was awesome. We caught multiple red fish and multiple trout. We are having a fish fry tonight! We will definitely book with David again for any future trips.

Scallop season will be closing soon and you're not likely to find any Tarpon near Homosassa by the start of fall. But it's still a great time to fish for Snook, Cobia, Redfish, and other species inshore.

Scallop season is in full swing and there are a few out there to find. The weather has been a bit hit or miss whoever we have been able to adjust schedules to accommodate most trips . The season ends September 24 so be sure to book your trip soon . See ya all on the water

Mangrove snapper bite is on !

Most people are out on the scallop ground getting what they can . I have been splitting trips and targets near by rocks for an hour or 2 after scalloping . I like to target grunts and mangroves this time of year especially when I have younger ones fishing on the trip . The bite stays steady and the fish box typically gets loaded up with some great table fair . Hope ya all enjoyed the July 4th celebrations. I have some scattered openings thru out the month so check them out . This week our tide will start shifting to have an incoming tide in the morning and this will translate into what should be a great redfish bite. Capt David Finntastick charters

Summer is upon us

The gulf temperatures have risen to about 86 degrees. This turns the trout bite to slow down a pinch ( unless you know were to get em) we have been focusing on the mangrove snapper and large grunt bite with the occasional seabass mixed in . These fish always create a busy bite and pull on the rod very hard. I typically earn my pay running around the boat unhooking fish and baiting hooks,this is fun and chaotic at the same time. The Tide is swinging around for a nice incoming tide in the moring and this is getting the redfish fish on the bite . Hang onto the rod real tide there going to try to pull it out of your hands :)

POMPANO

As January rolls along we have been enjoying some very favorable temperatures. The very strong pompano have showed up and are ready for the battle . The trout are Hungry and are feeding . They are both great table fare. We have some availability this month and have a few dates still open in march when the bite will be on ?. Capt David Finntastick charters

Fall fishing is getting started

The water here on the nature coast has cooled off a pinch therefor the dinner bell has started to ring . This is signal its time to come in and fatten up for the winter ahead. The trout are showing up in large numbers and are redfish still schooled up and feeding . We are also seeing a few cobia on our flats . The near shore rocks are loaded up with grunts and mangrove snapper. Book now to find your spot . Capt Dave Maki Finntastick charters

Redfish Redfish !

Aug 12, 2025 • Homosassa
Scalloping season has slowed down to a simmer. However the Redfish bite continues to strengthen . They are schooling up and are on the bite . I would say the bite will stay strong into September . September is when we will also see the trout begin to return from offshore. We of course are catching a few still along with our redfish . This time of year the near shore rocks are full of excitement. With every drop of a shrimp there is a pull on the line. Generally catching mangrove snapper and grunts. Btw I consider some of the best table fare out there. The fall season is booking fast so now is the time to get on the schedule for one of my favorite times of the year to fish here on the nature coast . Capt David Maki Finntastick charters
