My wife and I were relative newbies to offshore and inshore fishing but Captain Seth Foreman provided us a most excellent experience. His ability to effectively and clearly explain the different methods and strategies that we’d be trying put us at ease and led us to working together as a team.

Seth’s previous experience as a teacher and athletic coach shown through in this regard. This was critical when both wife and I hooked up with a pair of mahi mahi at the same time leading to an exhilarating and slightly chaotic period on the boat. Both fish were successfully landed (and enjoyed for dinner that night as ceviche and grilled steak!). Similarly, when we switched to inshore fishing with non-stop bites including fighting a huge ulua (giant trevally), Seth kept us on task resulting in us having a blast.

I highly recommend a day in the blue zone with Captain Foreman. Top notch gear, a great personality and a focus on making clients having the best experience. Thanks!!

Captain Seth is extremely personable and a very competent and knowledgeable fishing guide! He has excellent equipment and employs many different techniques for Hawaiian game fish.
Top fish of the day was a nice Short-billed Spearfish (a rare trophy!) caught by my wife Roxane, and it was her birthday!!
Bonus experience— we happened on a humpback whale carcass being feasted on by several shark species!!

We had an amazing experience fishing with Captain Seth. His boat was extremely comfortable and equipped with top-of-the-line gear, and his knowledge of the local waters was incredible. He taught us so much about fishing in Hawaii, and we loved that he also shared the history and culture of the island along the way—it made the trip feel extra special.

Best of all, Seth is a truly down-to-earth, genuine guy. He made us feel like part of a team, not just clients. He even gave us his number and encouraged us to text him for recommendations throughout our trip, which was above and beyond. We would absolutely love to go out with him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for an unforgettable fishing charter experience.

Captain Seth was incredibly. First of all he was very friendly, down to earth and funny. A very welcoming guy from the second we met him to the second we got off his boat. We did a 6 hour fishing trip and caught a 60-70 pound Short Billed Spearfish ‘Hebi’ and he explained how rare of a catch this was so we were incredibly grateful for the experience. Towards the end he also to us bottom fishing and we caught a couple pretty cool smaller fish. On the way back he filleted our fish and explained how we could eat it. Amazing amazing amazing experience. We will definitely book again and recommend Captain Seth to anyone coming to the Big Island.

Captain Seth was so warm and welcoming to myself and my family! From the get go when we met at 6:00am he had awesome energy and excitement which helped get everybody geared up to hook some fish despite the early start. Seth was methodical walking us through safety features and what to expect throughout the day and clear he has a passion for this work and was well as having a well prepared plan. We started off trolling for early bites but after no luck there we hit up some bottom fishing where the action got hotter. Everyone got to hook in a fish and my wife snagged one we kept to eat. During the bottom fishing we had a treat of seeing humpback whales breaching (lots of them) which had my 8 yr old thrilled! After pulling in a few fish which we released (but just as fun!) he decided to try another spot for bottom fishing and said “might as well troll on the way”. Lucky for us he did because we ran across a school of Mahi which we double hooked two. I lost mine but my wife got hers in for a keeper (she won’t let me forget she caught all the keepers still lol) despite Captains fishing gaff being out of commission he netted it! Seth cleaned the fish for us and we bagged them to take back to our VRBO to cook.

5 stars for Blue Zone and Captain Seth, especially if you have younger kids! He was full of interesting facts about fishing, the island, and overall just fun warm conversations about anything really. White Flash (the boat) was clean and clearly and well maintained fishing machine. If you are in Kona I wouldn’t think twice about booking with Blue Zone, just do it!. We certainly will rebook if we get back this way again!
