Ayden Kroukamp

I grew up without a dad. What hooked me on fishing wasn't the fish, it was watching my childhood best friend and his dad chase theirs across an actual expedition, tigerfish on the Zambezi, GTs in Mozambique. That sense of setting out after something big stayed with me. Then my stepdad landed a massive bronze whaler off the rocks, and I realized the expedition didn't have to be far away. It was right here. I was hooked. I started taking friends and family out to feel it for themselves. Word got around. Another local outfitter began sending me their overflow trips, and somewhere in there, the guide in me was born. I'm a teacher by nature. I love reading the day, the tide, the fish, walking a client through exactly what I see and why, and watching it prove true on the line. I stay two steps ahead of the fish so we don't lose it. Any day on the water beats a day in an office. The uncertainty, and working my way through it, is the part I never get tired of. Every client leaves with something filled that wasn't there when they arrived. That's the only testimony I need.
