Captains have been fishing the Florida Keys for over 25 years and brings extensive local knowledge to every trip. Spending the last 7 years full time commercial fishing I have decided to venture out into charters to share my experience and passion of the local waters with familys from all over. After learning the area’s bottom-fishing techniques and productive spots Capt. Byrd specializes in targeting Mutton Snapper, Yellowtail Snapper, Vermilion Snapper, Yelloweye Snapper, Grouper, and Amberjack around Key Largo’s reefs and deep-drop grounds. Ford was an amazing guide and host. He took constant care of us and gave us a lot of info about the area, the fish, and their habitat. I have been fishing my whole life and its obvious to me that Ford is obsessed with catching fish, learning their habits and teaching others. I would recommend him to anyone heading down to South Florida.

Best charter I’ve been on in key largo

Caught many yellow tails and many varieties of fish mackerel ,mutton ,mangroves ,black grouper Captain was very experienced and super helpful taught me a lot and I overall had a great experience. I would recommend this charter to anyone. One of the funniest and most successful trips I’ve ever had in the keys.

Free diving and reef fishing!

Captain Byrd (aka Byrd Chaser) is the man! We originally booked a full day charter to fish the reefs, but once my buddy saw a pair of Hawaiian slings, fins, and snorkels that were tucked away, we asked if we could possibly spear fish. Without hesitation, Captain Byrd Chaser said he had a good lobster spot and we ended up doing both - lobstering and reef fishing! It was an amazing day and Captain Byrd made sure of it. 5/5 would recommend

The temperatures begin to cool. This is one of the quietest months in Key Largo. But be careful – a lot of captains and guides choose this month to go on vacation so don't leave it too late to plan your charter trip.
