Captain Russell Tanaka spent 15 years commercially fishing for Ahi (Yellowfin Tuna) before crossing over to the Charter industry in 1995. He is one of the hardest-working anglers you'll ever meet. His 35+ years of experience and methodical attention to every detail are reflected by a quiet disposition, Magic's beauty and performance, our diligent crew, right down to the gear we use. Since running the Magic, he's held a 90-95% catch rate. An accomplished fisherman in sport as well, he's one of only a few men in the history of Hawaiian fishing to catch 3 'Granders' (Blue Marlin, over 1,000 lbs). in 2010 he caught 100+ Ahi, all weighing 100+ lbs! The entire fleet in Kewalo Harbor collectively did not catch even 100 that same year! Every year since he continues to bring in the most Ahi and notable catches. Captain 'Toots' runs our weekend/holiday charters as well as the days Russell isn't available. With his own records and over 45 years of experience, he has been Capt. Russell's mentor and taught him all he knows about fishing. No matter which one of our Captains you get, remember that you are getting all those years of Hawaii fishing experience!'

    Amazing day at sea!

    I brought my son and niece on an all day fishing trip and we caught 15 fish in total with a couole of big misses. we hauked in 9 Mahi Mahi, 4 Yellow Fin Tuna, 1 Skip Jack Tuna, and one impressive Blue Marlin. The Marlin weighed in at 107 lbs and the biggest Yellow Fin was 78 lbs. All this happened because of the tireless work put in by our crew, Captain Russell and Deck Hands Jake and Austin. These guys worked hard all day to put us on fish from start to finish. Can’t say enough good things about this boat and crew. Boat was exactly as advertised, clean, spacious, and all the geared up to fish. They have you on the water catching fish while the other guys are still asleep dreaming of the catch we made today. Book this crew today and start catching fish! You won’t regret it.

    So Many Fish!

    We had such a good experience! 14 mahi-mahi. The whole family were able to fish. Including our youngest nine-year-old daughter and two sons. The crew were very friendly. The boat was beautiful and comfortable. Highly recommend. Pay the extra and go the extra hours definitely worth it.

    Magic crew worked tirelessly to get us on fish all day long. They were funny, social, kind, and immaculately clean and safe. Although Hurricane Amanda from the far south sent in 15 ft swells and the fish were no where to be found, on a typical day, this is your go to crew that normally would find fish when all others can’t. Huge bummer that we didnt carch anything but these guys are great and worked their butts off. 🎣

    Captain Russel, Jake and Austin are stand up dudes. Guys made us feel welcome as soon as we got on board, gave us a run down of the boat and gear we were going to he using for the day and had us on fish throughout the whole day. What an incredible experience, 10/10 recommend these guys and will no doubt be back for moren in the future.

    Great crew and fishing!!!

    Victor, Austin and Jake were professional, good teachers, very engaging and great coaches when we were reeling in fish! They really knew a lot about where to try, how to spot activity and when to move on. We had 8 fish and brought in 7. One in our group was pretty seasick and they went out of their way to ease her discomfort as best they could (she was a trooper and battled it all day). I highly recommend them for seasoned fisherpersons and novices.
