- Background
- The captain's love for fishing started with Bass as a youngster. A trip to North Carolina introduced him to saltwater fishing, and upon moving to Florida, he was hooked. The incredible fishing opportunities kept him there for good!
- Techniques
- My preferred fishing technique is kite fishing because it creates one of the most natural and exciting bait presentations possible. The kite keeps the bait right on the surface, splashing and struggling like a real injured fish. Since there’s no weight or hardware in the water, predators see a completely natural meal—making them far more aggressive. Fish like sailfish, mahi, tuna, and kingfish explode out of the water to grab the bait because they’re built to attack prey on the surface. When a baitfish is weak or panicking, it rises to the top, making it an easy target. Predators strike fast and hard from below to keep the bait from escaping, often launching themselves into the air during the attack. This surface explosion is what makes kite fishing so thrilling—every strike is visual, sudden, and unforgettable.
