- Background
- I was born in South Florida, grew-up in Central Florida, and stepped away for a 22-year career as a United States Marine. I retired in 2012 and began a career of ministry. Combat and personal tragedy shaped my passion for helping people find their joy and manage grief. I fished all over the world and find peace on the water. I became a credentialed captain to give others the chance to smile again as I did.
- Techniques
- I'm a basic hook-and-line fisherman. Nothing fancy, just hunting, sight-casting, catch and (preferred) release. My grandfather taught me to surf-cast with shrimp and a Carolina rig on the shores of Ft. Myers Beach. His technique made me appreciate how simple life can be--focused on a rod-tip, click of the drag, and when to lean back and reel. He also taught me to be a good steward of our fishery and the ecosystem that supports it.
