	Sitka really shines on sunny winter days, with snow-capped mountains and picture-perfect streets. This may not be tourist high season, but it's a charming time to visit nonetheless.</div>

The Sitka Jazz Festival draws together great musicians from across the state and beyond, putting on performances and bringing cheers to the dark winter nights. It's well worth checking out.

Sitka's cultural side shines out once again in March, with the annual ArtiGras Music & Arts Festival. The event includes a wearable art show, songwriter workshops, and many more inspiring events.

King Salmon are really on form in April, giving you hours of fun out on the water. In the rivers, Steelhead and Dolly Varden are starting their spring runs, so there's plenty of action wherever you go.

The Sitka Salmon Derby kicks off each year on Memorial Day weekend. Battle monster Salmon and competitive anglers for great prizes and some serious bragging rights.

The music never ends here in Sitka, or at least it seems that way in summer. The Sitka Summer Music Festival runs for the whole of June, with great music all the way through.

July is peak Salmon season and all five species run in the island's rivers. Get lucky and land a Grand Slam. Get really lucky and you could be one of few anglers alive to have managed a Fantasy Slam.

The Sitka Seafood Festival is a great way to unwind after a hard day battling King Salmon, Halibut, Rockfish, and Lingcod offshore. Or you could just eat those, come to think of it.

Chinook and Coho Salmon are biting like crazy, and there are still some Chum Salmon around, too. Offshore, Halibut and Lingcod put heavy tackle to the test while Dolly Varden run in the rivers.

Alaska was signed over to the United States right here in Sitka in October 1867. Alaska Day Festival celebrates this each year. It's quite the event locally.

Sitka Whalefest raises awareness about these incredible creatures with a symposium, workshops, and fun-filled activities. It's also a great time to go whale watching in Sitka - funny that.

Locals dress the town up in tinsel and fairy lights each winter season, bringing the area to life and filling the streets with seasonal joy. This is a cold but magical time to visit Sitka.
