    Great persistence

    12 Hour Trip – Offshore6 adults1 child

It was a tough morning given the rain that was coming down in the area the Captain planned to take and having to start at a different location but the Captain was determined for us to get fish. We had lost some big ones in the morning which was still thrilling. In the afternoon we moved to a new area he had worked before and BAM we hit paydirt. Had some great fights and brought in some beautiful tuna. Captain Cook did a great job and made the day a success.

    No Skipper

    12 Hour Trip – Offshore4 adults

Not sure if there is an actual Capt Andy Hook who has a boat in Venice, LA. Booked with this guy only to have a completely different Capt/boat show up without being told who he was until on the boat. No Mate, started and hour later, no bait, no rigs that were promised for bottom fishing, electronics didn’t work, faulty equiptment, rusty equiptment, just wild. Weird part was, I could of booked with this capt cheaper than this supposed Andy guy. Caught in a wicked storm for about an hour and a half under an oil rig while other boats in the area bailed when they sae the storm coming, had to catch our own bait which took hours. The only saving grace, (by what I believe was shear luck) this capt had one squid rig he dropped “for bottom fishing” and at 3:38pm we latched onto and brought in a 200lb swordfish on a pole that snapped an hour in on a 3hr fight with the capt hanging over the side of the boat hand lining a half crank at a time. it was an incredible feat that has an unbelievable lifetime story that goes along with it, but we came for tuna, other boats caught quite a bit of tuna and whatever else that day. Had it not been for that swordfish, a mutiny was abroad. The tensity between the capt and us 5 was almost to a boiling point because of how un prepared he was and doing what we paid for. it was almost like he knew he was going to fish for 1 swordfish from the start of the day. (considering he only had 1 rig set up with a squid on it) I did learn a valuable lesson about Venice tho…. Ask more question leading to the day, inspect everything on the boat before you leave the dock, and get the actual captains name before you leave the dock.

    Captain Andy Cook

    12 Hour Trip – Offshore6 adults

Foggy ride out went without a hitch capt Andy had us on fish all day . We ended up with a cooler full fish after so many missed opportunities. The sharks were a real pain, but were mixed with big tuna. Wahoo was the catch of the day. Thanks again for a great day Andy looking forward to the sword fishing trip

12 Hour Tuna Trip with Capt Andy Cook and Mate Jason

    12 Hour Trip – Offshore3 adults

I highly recommend Capt Cook for any fishing Trip, Top Rate. Due to a lot of bait fish Tuna were hard to find. But Capt did all his tricks to find fish. We trolled oil rigs, chummed and dropped bait, followed shrimp boats, chased birds to find fish, and fished the Lump. We caught 2 Black fin on first troll. Caught Bonita and several shark. On way back we hit an oil rig again, and the Blackfin were boiling the surface. We caught 13 more blackfin in the 13 to 18 lb range. Jason the mate did superb in all his duties, kept the boat clean after every fish. They both have great personalities. If yellowfin would have been bitting, I know we would have caught our share. Fish with Capt Cook.

What's biting with Captain Cook Charters in Venice

This is a great time of year to go after Cobia, which can be caught around the rigs in shallow water. Weighing in anything from 15 to 60 pounds, this is one of the most exciting fish to catch nearshore.
