My wife and I booked a trip in early February 2025.  Many fish were out of season like the Red Snapper and Mahi Mahi.  We did catch about 4-19 inch grouper that we had to let go because they were too small.  We also caught about 6, 15 inch to 24 inch red snapper we had to let because they were out of season.  We caught a Bonita, a Big Skate stingray and a Moray Eel that the Captain did not want on his boat.

We did catch a couple of Vermillion Snapper that we had for dinner!

The additional surprise part of the trip was the jumping and “wake surfing” Dolphin, the sun bathing sea turtle and Man-O-War jellyfish!  Captain James made it not only a fishing trip but a sea adventure as well.  Overall a 5 Star adventure!

My daughter and I went out on a 6 hr trip.  Caught some trigger fish, amberjack, snapper, grouper and had a few sharks steal our fish. Thank you Captain James we enjoyed the trip. It was a bit rough but we managed a great couple of meals and most important, great memories. God bless and good luck to all who fish.

We were a little concerned we might not have a lot of luck because we were visiting in February, but we were wrong.  The captain put us on fish all day, and not just some fish, but big fish!  I highly recommend Apex and Captain James, we had a great day!  He moved us from one spot to the next to keep the bite going all day until our arms were sore from fighting big fish up from the depths.  Photos tell the story, but there are too many to post.  Book with Apex, you won’t regret it!

My sons and I Booked a trip with Apex Charter, and it was remarkable.  I contacted Captain James the day before our trip and discussed the upcoming weather.  It was decided to leave an hour earlier than planned in order to get in as much time as possible.  We had scheduled an 8 hour trip for Mahi.  When the bite cooled off, my sons wanted to catch a shark.  Captain James had us on a 7 foot shark in no time flat.  The upcoming storm cut our trip short by a couple of hours, but we took several nice (9) Mahi and a Spanish Mackerel to the cleaning table.  We caught over 25 Banita and the shark as well.  We were refunded some of the cost due to the shortened trip due to the weather.  Captain James was very knowledgeable and communicated effectively.  The boat and equipment were great as well.  We are planning on Booking another 8 hour trip next year with Apex Charter and Captain James.

As for the captain’s ability to find fish and get us on action, we can’t complain at all, we had an amazing day killing anything and everything we wanted to try. Only thing I would improve would be in the beginning, there is a learning curve for how to handle everything and where to be on the boat. Sometimes things weren’t explained before hand, so things got a little crazy and the captain would started correcting us. Some times it felt like we were expected to know some things, coming from Missouri and not fishing much anyway, we did not, we did not know which fish needed pulled out of the water to he cut off, for instance, Bonitos get pulled completely out of the water and he grabs the line and turns them loose; but you do not do this at all with a mahi mahi. We did not know this at first. The captain explained this all after mistakes were made. He is not rude, I just would appreciate more information before I began fishing.

After about the first hour though, we had a system, caught an amazing amount of fish, the captain was very nice and great to talk to, let us try all types of fishing; caught shark, mahi, and bonitos. I had an amazing time and would love to go back with him again.
