Born and raised in GA, I have had a fishing rod in hand since I was around 3 years old. I spent most of my time through highschool and college fishing lakes and rivers in Georgia and nearby states but I would always make at least one trip a year down to the salt waters of Florida. After college I went out west and bounced around to different jobs and states until I decided that I wanted to give guiding a shot. I headed up to Alaska and cut my teeth guiding from drift boats on the Kenai river. Between season I came down to the Florida Keys (to thaw out) and fell in love with the place and the complex puzzle that this fishery presents. After working at a local tackle shop and doing a little deck handing on the side, I got my captains license and started Held Fast Charters. I am truly blessed and living my dream!

    August fishing trip

    Half Day Fishing Trip • 2 adults

    We had a great time! My son and I each caught a tarpon and missed a few others. We had some chances at bonefish but just couldn’t connect. We also each hooked a shark which was fun. The captain had a nice boat and gear and knew what he was doing. I would definitely recommend him.

    Fun Morning with Captain Cam

    Half Day Fishing Trip • 2 adults

    My best friend and i went out with Cap Cam recently for some flat fishing. He was able to find some Tarpon and Barracuda in some less than ideal conditions. Cam was great - professional and very friendly, patient and knowledgeable. We will definitely look to go out with him again in the future.

    Tarpon Surprise

    Half Day Fishing Trip • 2 adults

    We had an awesome time! Got into some cuda on the flats and then Tarpon showed up which was a surprise for January. Capt Cam was already prepped with a rod rigged for them and we hooked up with a great fish.

    A pleasure to be out on the flats for the first time. Several schools and Dozens of Tarpon. Hooked a Black tip and a 6ft+ Tiger came less than 5 feet from the boat. Highly recommend this charter.

The Flats are Alive!

The flats fishing has been great lately with this cooler water. Plenty of large schools of hungry bonefish on patrol. Also seeing a lot of juvenile tarpon tucked into the mangroves and creeks. The cooler water also brings large barracuda into the shallows....a truly formidable predator that will test your fish fighting abilities on both fly and spin gear! Hit me up to get out there and see for yourself!

Backcountry Winter Fishing is Heating Up

The transition to winter species is in full swing. With the water temps dropping we are getting opportunities to target species that haven't been around for awhile. Sea trout are starting to show up and while targeting them you are likely to run into jack creval, large lady fish, and fired up black tip sharks. I am also excited to see the large Barracuda making their way onto the flats again....they are a top predator that will definately test your fish fighting skills. With their blistering, drag peeling runs and tendency to go full airborn, they really get the blood pumping. If you are looking for top tier table fair, you are in luck. Winter time brings in schools of yellow jack (a favorite of the locals) and cero/spanish mackerel which are all three top notch eaters. I am Also starting to see some larger snapper again as they move in from the reef with the cool water. It is only going to get better from here, so book a trip soon and lets get out on the water!!!
