Captain Steve Himel is a USCG licensed captain who has fished in Southeast Louisiana most of his life. He lives on Lake Pontchartrain, which allows him to monitor the fishing conditions daily and thus provide his guests with the most productive fishing experience. Captain Himel is dedicated to making each trip a great experience for every guest on board. He is a Pro-Staffer for Mercury Marine and Pure Fishing, as well as a published outdoor writer with articles featured in the Louisiana Sportsman Magazine and others. Steve is a member of the Louisiana Outdoor Writers Association and the National Association of Charter Boat Operators and Louisiana Charter Boat Association.

6 Hour Trip - Lake Pontchartrain • 1 adultCaptain Steve Himel is one of the best fishing guides I have ever fished with, and I have fished with dozens. This time I told him I hoped for action and variety, and my goodness did he deliver. Action? Check. I caught 25 fish. Variety? Check. I caught 13 spotted seatrout, 7 Atlantic croakers, a southern flounder, an Atlantic stingray, a hardhead catfish, and 2 channel catfish. It is really fun to fish with Steve because I always know that it's going to be a very successful day on the water.

Half Day Trip – Lake Pontchartrain • 4 adultsRain was forecasted. Capt was in constant communication throughout the week as weather forecasts changed. we decided to go out until the came in. Capt took us far enough out to get some action and close enough to get back to dock when the rain came. He took us out and in an hour and a half we smoked em! Great energy on the boat and Capt knows the water.

The fishing is off the charts and I have availability this Saturday. Last time out we caught our limit of 30 specks brfore 9:30. Than off to catch other sprcies like flounder, sheepshead and croakers. Jump in board!

Fishing is HOT in Lake Pontchartrain

We are having a banner spring season in Lake Pontchartrain. Yesterday I had Dalton and Dakota from MO on board. We caught 9 different species of fish on live shrimp. Mosly speckled trout but also caught redfish, black drum, flounder, croaker, white trout, and three species of fresh and saltwater catfish. This was only one of the many great trips we had this season. You too can get inonthw action!

Father and Son Memories!

I had Stan and his Son Jonah from Illinois on board for a sampling of great Louisiana fishing! We started early and got on some big specks up to 20”. We also hauled in some doormat flounders. We had to move around a little but found another good bite towards the end and put a few more in the box before heading in. Great family memories made!

Over 50 Big Trout in Lake Pontchartrain!

We had a great trout trip in the lake near the Rigolets today. Two Kevin's from the New Orleans area wanted to get on some trout and we did, The morning started off slow and we were about to leave our first spot when a big trout hit one of our live shrimp and it was on! We boated about 32 trout there before moving to the train tressels where we added 10 more to the box before heading home at noon. We caught trout up to 2 pounds. The bite is very good and conditions should stay good for a few more weeks.

Birthday Fishing Trip!

Donald give Smith a fishing trip for his 12th birthday. It was a beautiful morning but the west wind was a little brisk early. After putting a few in boat we went searching and hit several spots on the south and north shore of the lake, but didn't catch any so we went back to our first spot and put a few more in the cooler before heading in. It was a slow bite but great memories were made being out on the water and enough fish were caught for dinner. Book your trip to make lifetime memories.

Grand Slam in Lake Ponchartrain

On Friday I had Jason and Tiffany from NC as my guest aboard for a sampling of some great Louisiana fishing. I went a little farther east today around the Rigolets where I have been on a better bite than on the bridges. We found some beautiful specs and flounder on a steady bite. Tiffany also hooked into a 4ft. alligator gar that made it to the side of the boat before we let it go. What a rush! While heading to our final spot we saw some birds diving and cast to them - we immediately hooked up on two bull redfish that were in a big school under the birds. It was a great day on the water with great memories made. Today we caught trout, redfish, flounder, croaker, fresh water catfish and alligator gar. Book your trip now and get in on this hot bite.
