We recently visited the area from Indiana had the pleasure of an afternoon fishing trip with Captain Brian, and despite the rainy, windy October weather, it turned out to be a fantastic experience. We spent the first hour catching live bait, and Captain Brian’s expertise made it enjoyable and productive.
Once we moved into the bay, the action was fast-paced. In just two hours, we landed 12 striped bass, with our first four casts resulting in four catches!  We kept four and released the rest, all thanks to Captain Brian’s skill and knowledge of the area.

We highly recommend Captain Brian for anyone looking to fish in the area, and I’ll definitely be reaching out directly to him again on our next visit!

We maxed out! But that is not why he got 5 stars.  Brian is a great captain and he connected with our family right out of the port.  He is a Gloucester native and knows the waters and the history and the fish & birds too!  If you search for the shiny new boat with a crew of three - don’t fool yourself.  Brian was solo and worked like four people.  Keeping it light and committed to our overall experience.  Even when one of us was a little queasy due to the swells, he readjusted his plan to take a smooth route but a successful one.

My son celebrated his 16th birthday on a Toby Ann Charter with my husband and four of his friends. This was a stark contrast to our previous disappointing experiences with other companies. My husband had been on a private charter where the captain was rude, and they didn’t catch any fish. The other boys had also been on a public charter that was overcrowded and unpleasant, and they didn’t catch any fish either.

Let me start with how accessible Captain Higgins was. Regardless of when I contacted him for information, he replied promptly and professionally. I was uncertain about getting my teenage crew ready for a morning charter on time, but I also worried that a later trip would be less likely to result in catching fish. Captain Higgins explained all my options and helped me to make the right decision for my group. He assured me that the time of the trip didn’t necessarily impact the success of the fishing.

On the day of the charter, Captain Higgins was punctual, and his professional yet friendly demeanor immediately put the boys and my husband at ease. His knowledge and guidance were invaluable, and everyone had a fantastic time, catching at least one keeper each. The boys continue talking about the trip, and we are truly grateful to Captain Higgins for making my son’s 16th birthday a memorable success! Thank you, Captain Higgins!

Captain Brian took us out early in the morning and gave us a great experience! The 5 of us (me, my dad and brother, and 2 kids ages 10 and 14) all enjoyed the whole time. We had signed up for bass fishing and he called us the day before with news that the weather had changed the week prior and bass fishing was bad. He was super flexible and we changed it up last minute all to the better! We ended up with amazing fish, amazing ride, and an amazing day overall. Can’t say enough! Would happily do it again!

Thank you to Brian for an awesome day on the water. Our boys are avid freshwater fisherman and they really wanted to catch strippers. Brian made that possible by putting us right on them. He was such a great guy, easy to chat with, fun to be around, easy going, accommodating to what they wanted to catch and so knowledgeable! We hope to be back for some blue fin tuna one day!!
