Malik Wilder

Member since November 2021 Atlanta, United States
Background
In spite of his impoverished project housing and urban surroundings, Capt. Malik was able to develop his fishing skills in salt and freshwater fishing areas which were no more than 30 minutes from his home. As an avid sport fisherman with respect and safety, opportunity, success, and teamwork, he decided to announce his involvement in the community and get the youth to participate in fishing and the outdoors. Capt. Malik Wilder is the founder and certified fishing instructor at FishProCo, LLC. and Fishing For HipHop, LLC. (FFHH) as well as a certified fishing instructor for the "Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs" national program in the Metro Atlanta area. With over 25 years of fishing experience, he recognized the need to raise awareness of sport fishing and boating. Capt. Malik has been featured on one of the World Fishing Network’s major fishing TV shows. He’s received conservationist awards and featured on various TV networks, magazines, and radio shows.
Techniques
At an early age, fishing became a passion and obsession that saved Capt. Malik from the ever-present negative temptations of peer pressure. He began to turn the fishing skills of patience, organization, focus, determination, preparedness, and consideration into life skills that would guide his future direction. Capt. Malik is a lifelong, expertly skilled fisherman with over 25 years of experience. His skill as an angler is only surpassed by his passion for engaging youth participation in fishing and the outdoors. The captain has a unique approach to youth engagement, using hip-hop culture as a bridge between something kids already know and love. Breaking the mold, Capt. Malik's bold approach to community outreach has proven effective through his work as a volunteer who teaches life skills and sustainability for Georgia's Division of Natural Resources and Colorado Parks and Wildlife. He specializes in fly fishing techniques, spin casting, and more in fresh water and salt water.
