Captain Doug has been fishing the waters off of Cape Cod for over 20 years. He loves having the opportunity of introducing saltwater fishing to anyone who hasn't had the chance to fish before. The captain has worked as a commercial fisherman and as a mate on another charter boat for years. He recently retired and decided that it was time to go for his captain's license and start a new chapter in life.

6-Hour Striper/Bluefish Trip • 4 adultsGreat weather, great captain/crew and great fishing! We caught a couple keepers and threw some big ones back. This was our second time out with Captain Doug. St pete’s sports fishing is the GOAT, they know how to get fish on the hook and are extremely professional. We will definitely be back to catch some more and hopefully for years to come. Oh and absolutely never bring a banana on captain Doug’s boat or you’re in for a long day ! LOL

The fish made us earn them, but after a couple of hours of searching, we found them and ended up putting together a solid catch with a few keepers for the cooler and some nice fish released to fight another day. That's what makes fishing so rewarding! Your kind words about our crew and professionalism mean a lot. We always do our best to make every trip enjoyable, no matter how hard the fish make us work. Hearing that you consider St. Pete's Sport Fishing the GOAT is a huge compliment! As for the banana... I'm still not convinced one didn't sneak aboard. 4-1/2 Hour Striper/Bluefish Trip - 12:15 PM • 4 adults • 2 childrenGreat trip! Perfect with 2 boys, a 5 and 7 year old! The captain and first mate bob were knowledgeable, friendly and great with the boys! We caught so many fish that the boys were spoiled and were upset if we went more than a couple minutes without hooking up! Luckily that lnly happened a couple times during the whole outing!

4-1/2 Hour Striper/Bluefish Trip - 12:15 PM • 2 adultsMy son and I went out on a warm, calm afternoon. Not classic fishing weather or time of day. Captain Doug and Mate Joe got us on the fish anyway and we brought in a haul of striped bass. What a day! These guys know how to get on the fish.

The Stripers are Back for the 2026 Seaso

Our first Striper trip of the season was an incredible success! The fishing was absolutely lights out, with anglers landing impressive striped bass ranging from 29" all the way up to a trophy-sized 36" beast.
While the weather hasn't always been on our side, every time we've been able to get out on the water, the fish have been ready and waiting. The action has been nonstop, and the season is off to a fantastic start.
The Black Sea Bass bite has been strong as well, providing plenty of excitement and great catches for everyone on board.
We're looking forward to another action-packed season filled with great fishing, unforgettable memories, and plenty of bent rods. We can't wait to welcome you aboard and get you out on the water!

St. Pete Sport Fishing: Red Hot Bite Des

The early fishing on the south side of Cape Cod has been incredible! We're seeing a lights-out bite with several huge fish ranging from 28 inches up to the low 40-inch range. While the weather hasn't been the most cooperative lately, the fish certainly have been, making for some fantastic catches. It appears that another epic summer is in store for Cape Cod.

Wind and Fog But We're Still Getting it

It's been a tough year on the South Side of Cape Cod as far as weather goes. Nice days for golf but the wind has been relentless. When we can get out there the fishing has been lights out. Great customers and great fishing. We still have some Monday and Tuesday dates open for August and September.

Our first Striper Trip of the Season was

Our first Striper trip of the season was a huge success with Matt Whalen and crew aboard the St. Pete today. There were a variety of sizes from schoolies to slot fish to oversized around 38". The St. Pete Weighted Hoochies were on fire! Thanks, Matt for a great trip.
We trolled St. Pete Hoochies for the first 6-8 fish and then switched over to snapping wire when the tide changed. Once we had our fill of that it was time to switch again. This time we went with small 4" weighted hoochies casting into the rips.

It's Squid Fishing Time

We went out the other day and the water temperature was around 48 degrees. Squid should arrive the minute the waters hit 50. We have open trips available. Book an 8-hour trip for up to 4 people. We leave the dock at Bass River Marina at 7 am and it's a quick trip to Hyannis. Bring a bucket and some old clothes and get ready to get inked. Trips start next Monday, April 30th but it's a very short season, usually only about 2 weeks long so don't delay.
