3 – Hour Fishing Trip - 1:00 PM • 5 adults • 2 childrenI would absolutely recommend Reel Fishing to anybody! Miguel and his friend were very patient with us. We originally had the trip booked for a Thursday but Miguel was very honest and explained to me that the weather wasnt the best for fishing and had me reschedule for Friday and I am very glad we did! I was hesistant on bringing my dog but he said it was fine so my dog enjoyed a nice boat trip, I forgot his water and dog bowl but Miguel kept my dog hydrated and even used his sandwich ziploc bag as a doggy bowl lol now thats great customer service! We caught some catfish, mackerel, trout and some jacks. He helped my oldest who’s really getting into fishing and explained a few things to him. Overall it was a great time!!! Thank you Miguel! 10/10

4 – Hour Bite - 12:00 PM • 6 adults • 4 childrenAwesome trip with Capt. Miguel and his deck hand. We had six on the boat 2 Adults and 4 kids. We were fishing on the noon trip midday. All we were hoping for was the kids to catching some fish! We had all kinds of action and even had to move once because of dolphins. I guess they where hungry too. lol! We ended up catching 4 different species of fish and where able to bring a bunch of fresh fillets back home to eat. Great experience and would recommend this trip to everyone especially if you want kids to have a blast! Thanks again Captain Miguel for all the memories, can’t wait to go again!

3 – Hour Fishing Trip - 1:00 PM • 2 adultsWe both had an enjoyable day on the water. Miguel was able to put us right on the fish and we were able to catch multiple species, including flounder, spotted trout, snook, snapper and even got to take a look at some beautiful puffer fish. We also got a few good hits on some redfish that were all around us. Overall, it was an excellent day and great conversation with Miguel and his crew. Will be booking again in the future. PS-bring a cooler and ice for all the fish you will be catching with them!

4 – Hour Fishing Trip • 3 adultsBoy did Captain Miguel find snook haven for us today off of Matlacha. Too bad they are out of season but we had more fun and were very successful landing large keeper snook. They were all returned safely to Charlotte Harbor and now they are waiting for the next charter with Captain Miguel. This gentleman and his first mate were very kind, professional and focused on our success. We are local and have fished these waters for years. We highly recommend Reel Fishing SWFL Charters!

4 – Hour Fishing Trip • 5 adults • 1 childBook with Captain Miguel!! We had such an amazing experience—this trip was the highlight of our time in Florida! He was incredibly patient, great with kids, and very knowledgeable about the area. He took the time to make sure everyone enjoyed the trip. We had 2 adults and 3 teenagers, and there was plenty of space on his boat. The boat was comfortable and very clean. What really stood out was how successful our trip was—at one point there were several other boats around us that weren’t catching nearly as many fish as we were! It was clear that his experience and knowledge of the area and fishing equipment made all the difference. We would absolutely book with Captain Miguel again and highly recommend him to anyone!

Spotted Sea Trout
Date: 09/08/2023
Location: Charlotte Harbor, Matlacha Pass and Pine Island Sound.
Weather conditions: Temperatures 90 degrees Fahrenheit, mostly cloudy with thunderstorms approaching from the west. Wind speed started off at 3mph and later picked up 15mph. The storm lasted anout 20 minutes and then cleared.
Water conditions: clear water, 83 degrees Fahrenheit with an outgoing tide and lite current over the grass flats
Overview:
The spotted sea trout fishing has been quite productive recently in Charlotte Harbor, Matlacha Pass and Pine Island Sound. We’ve had good catches and exciting fishing experiences targeting these beautiful and prized fish.
Catching Spotted Sea Trout:
I’ve had success catching spotted sea trout using a variety of techniques. Here are some tips to increase your chances of landing this sought-after species:
1. Time of day: Spotted sea trout are generally more active during dawn and dusk, so consider planning your fishing trips during these times for better success. However, they can be caught throughout the day as well.
2. Bait and lures: Live bait such as shrimp, mullet, or small fish is known to be effective in attracting spotted sea trout. Additionally, artificial lures like soft plastics, topwater plugs, and spoons can also yield fruitful results. Experiment with different colors and sizes to find what works best in your location.
3. Techniques: Casting near grassy areas, oyster beds, or around structure such as docks and bridges often leads to successful trout fishing.
