Capt. Derek was born and raised in Highlands, New Jersey, located near Sandy Hook Bay. He started fishing at a young age and his first summer job was at a bait and tackle shop and gas dock on the Shrewsbury River when he was 15. One year later, Capt. Derek became a deckhand on the party boat, Miss Take II out of the Highlands. When he was 17, he became a mate on a corporate offshore boat fishing the canyons in search of big game fish. A year later, he became a mate on the charter boat out of Atlantic Highlands. In 2005, Capt. Derek earned his Master's License and began this full-time charter business in 2006. Capt. Derek has always had a passion for the water and an instinct for landing fish. From winter Flounder in the rivers and bay to live lining adult bunker for trophy Striped Bass to jigging in the canyons for Bluefin and Yellowfin.

Unreal Striper Fishing Continues

May 16, 2025 • Highlands
Striped bass fishing has been nothing short of incredible with most trips seeing 30-60 fish per trip right now All fish have been caught on live bunker or on artificial lures. We have not trolled once this season. We still have around a month left ofor the peak of the run and the fish should only be getting bigger.

Super Afternoon Bass Action

Apr 29, 2025 • Highlands
Had Anthony and crew out this afternoon. Started off with a good liveline bite with a nice mix of keepers and overs on every drift. Once we lost the tide we switched gears and got into a pick of keepers and some more overs on the shads to finish up the afternoon. Thanks for fishing hard in the wind guys.

Mad dog liveline atriper fishing

Apr 28, 2025 • Highlands
This morning we had Dave and crew out. Took a little to find the bait but once we did we loaded the wells fast and right to the grounds. Bites right away with multiple hookups at a time. Guys boxed and quick limit and played catch and release for a few hours before heading in.

4/26 Good Striper Jigging

Apr 26, 2025 • Highlands
This morning we had Dave and friends out before the blow. Read some fish right from the start and had a slow pick on shads and spoons. Once the tide got started, the guys got dialed in and went to work with multiple fish on at a time to finish up the afternoon with fish to 37”.

Phenomenal Live Bunker Fishing

Apr 24, 2025 • Highlands
Today was one to remember. This morning we had a very small group out due to some last minute cancellations. Loaded the wells and ran into acres of fish rolling on bunkers. Hands down best bite of the year with fish eating topwater plugs, metal lips, spoons, shads, and live bunker. Fish pretty much on top all morning and the guys put a beating on them landing 60+ fish to 37”. This afternoon we had Terry and crew out and had a steady pick all day with multiple fish on at a clip. Boxed an easy limit and had many releases to 35”.

Awesome Striped Bass Live Lining

Apr 23, 2025 • Highlands
We have been experiencing some incredible striped bass fishing on our recent trips. we have been catching all our fish on artificial lures, shads, and live lining bunker. We have been seeing limits of keepers on each trip and releasing a dozen to several dozen fish up to 30# on some trips. Now is the time to get in on this incredible fishery.
