Wind and Seas were horrible but Captain and crew were outstanding. Caught 10 Mahi Mahi in spite of the bad weather. Phoebe II is an outstanding boat to fish on. Will definitely use them again.

Went fishing on Wednesday, August 5, 2015

We went for the 3 hour Evening Shark and Tarpon Fishing.  As promised, we were fishing in about 15 mins after pulling out of the marina, in fact, we were so close that we could have swam back to the marina if we had to!!  Nate, the Captain and Cole, the first mate, were awesome!! Very personable, engaging with our daughters, and knowledgeable of the local fishing activity and potential catches.  They took complete care of us; getting our tackle setup, baiting hooks, giving our daughters tips and techniques and generally keeping us entertained while we waited for a bite.  Hooked one tarpon and was able to fight it for about 45 seconds until it threw the hook.  And, we hooked either a bull shark or hammerhead towards the end of the trip that ran flat out until we got to the “red line” and had about 10-15 seconds of line left on the reel.  The crew did a fisherman’s fire drill to start up the engines and pull the anchor to start backing up in order to try to take some line back on the reel, but the shark cut the line on a rock or piling right before we ran it completely off the spool.  Other than those two short moments of action, we mostly caught bait fish for the next day.

Certainly not the crew’s fault - that’s fishing.  The Phoebe II is a beautiful vessel; well maintained and incredibly comfortable.  Again, Nate and Cole were outstanding - great crew whom I would definitely enjoy fishing with again.  Although next time, we would probably just go for a 3/4 day or full day, so that we could head out into the open waters and hopefully have some better luck!!
