You know it’s a good sign when other fishermen on the dock tell you you’re in good hands. Captain Tom was great; he loves what he does and where he lives. He spent time to point out the wildlife and landscapes, and was very friendly and helpful to my 11 year old who is a bit shy. We caught three striper, each about 34”; the charter was the highlight of our week in Maine.

Really can’t say enough good things about our fishing trip with Captain Donna. It was my son’s first real fishing trip and our first time in Maine. We had the best time learning about the local coastal area while casting our lines for bait fish and stripers. Because of Capt. Donna’s knowledge and expertise, we were able to pull in a few big ones…one so strong I almost wasn’t able to reel it in! Overall, one of the best memories made with my son. We will definitely be back next time we are in Maine. Thank you!

The morning started shrouded in a cool, misty fog that added a touch of mystery and tranquility to the experience. Despite the low visibility, Captain Tom’s expertise shone through, expertly and safely navigating us up and downriver where we spotted all sorts of activity - Striper feeding, cormorant, heron, ducks, loons, and two longtime resident Bald Eagles. Captain Tom shared his wealth of knowledge and humor as we trolled through the area waiting for fish to strike and headed out to pull the lobster traps - another success with one keeper and several others released!

As the morning progressed, the sun burned through the fog, revealing a panorama of Saco Bay and the Wood Island Lighthouse. With the improved visibility, we picked up some speed to troll another area of the bay. As if awaiting the sun themselves, the Striper started hitting. We pulled in two at the same time, and a total of three to seal up a perfect morning guided by the great Captain Tom.

We highly recommend a trip and will be returning ourselves next year!

For those who are contemplating a private hire for ocean fishing, don’t screw around with advertisements, just make an appointment with Tom.  He is safe, knows FISH and FISHING. More important, he is just plain fun to spend a few leisurely hours with on the water. He is NOT a magician though. People rate fishing captains on the number of fish they catch, but that is a bad metric. We caught three gorgeous striped bass and has to release them because they weren’t large enough. They will grow a bit more and we will get them next trip….or you will if you beat us to it with Tom.

I had a great charter with my 15 year-old son. Tom was super friendly and knowledgeable. He had a good eye for where the fish were and it sure paid off because I caught a 30 inch keeper striper! I am looking forward to our next trip!
