Whitsundays Sports 'n' Spear

had the rare pleasure of spearfishing and line fishing on the same trip, catching five keepers, including a 3 pound coral trout. Highly recommend this trip.

It seems that here it's all about Giant Trevally. Check out the canals. You can also get Mangrove Jack around rock walls and bridges.

The rainfall season peaks. You can get Coral Trout. Go to the reefs and wrestle with the fish. Barramundi season is reopened. Offshore, you can catch Black Marlin and Yellowfin Tuna.

We all love GTs. They are strong, and fishing for them with poppers and stickbaits is a real treat. You can also get Barra, Mangrove Jack, Coral Trout, Sweetlip, and Emperor. Further out, you may get a Blue Marlin.

Barras are biting, and you might stumble upon a real monster. Mackerel are also on the chew. You might even catch a big Flathead.

May's the month of Barra bonanza. For recreational anglers, Barramundi are a staple of angling in these waters, and you don't want to miss them.

Coral Trout and Morwong are biting. Barracuda and Sweet Lips are in abundance, and even a short trip can take you to them. Red Emperor and Nannygai are also a good choice.

Go trolling for GTs, or aim for the reefs and go bottom fishing for Coral Trout, Red Emperor, Sweet Lips, and Nannygai. Juvenile Black Marlin swims offshore.

Spanish Mackerel are on fire. Find a narrow channel with some deep water between the islands. You'll be amazed. Else, go to reefs, and catch the colorful ones. Wahoo lurks out there.

Days are warm, and spring begins. Black Marlin arrive, so look for an offshore charter. If you like trolling, go after Macks, Wahoo, and GTs. Fishing around the reefs is equally rewarding.

Black Marlin are offshore. Basically, you can't miss, whether you go to the reefs or go trolling. The fish are there, and like to bite.

You may want to focus on offshore trips. Yellowfin Tuna, Black Marlin, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi are in abundance. Reefs aren't bad, either.

Not much has changed. The big names are still out there, and a typical offshore full day trip should do the job. You can treat yourself to some big game fishing. Black Marlin, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna are the main prize.
