With plenty of sunshine and no rain, January is a great escape from the winter. You'll most likely catch inshore species such as Roosterfish, Grouper, and Jack Crevalle.

February is typically the windiest month in the area, but you can still target all of the inshore species. When it comes to offshore trips, you're most likely to catch Mahi Mahi and Marlin.

This is the hottest month of the year, so be extra cautious with sun protection. Fishing opportunities are promising as always for inshore species, while the deep seas start heating up, too.

It's still peak season for Grouper and Jack Crevalle, so you may want to focus your attention on the reefs or inshore. However, you could still find some monster creatures offshore, too.

This is where it gets interesting for big game fishing! The peak season for Sailfish starts in May, and there's also more Wahoo and Mahi Mahi out there. Roosterfishing inshore is also hotter than usual.

The fishing only gets better in June! This is when you can also catch Yellowfin Tuna and the peak season for Cubera Snapper begins, so wherever you head, you're in for an incredible adventure.

The dry season is long gone and heavy rains are on their way, although, not regularly. July is one of the best months for big game fishing, so dodge the showers and head offshore to get your fill.

Lots of species reach their peak in August, so make the most of your summer vacation by coming to Coco Beach. You're very likely to catch Sailfish, Wahoo, and Marlin, while inshore fishing is great, as always.

You could say that September is a 'peak month' all around. This is when you'll get the most rain but also the best chances for both big game and inshore fishing, so come and catch 'em all.&nbsp;

As the rainy season stops, big game fishing slows down as well. You can still catch lots of Yellowfin Tuna and Mahi Mahi in the deep, so not all is lost. And, don't forget, inshore and nearshore are both great.&nbsp;

Cubera Snapper and Yellowfin Tuna are still easy to catch and don't forget the main star of the show – Roosterfish. Wherever you head, there's some exciting fishing to be had with some extra special rewards!

In winter, the focus switches from big game to inshore fishing. Spend the holidays targeting Grouper, Snapper, Jack Crevalle, and more in the shallow waters as you see out the year in style.

Strong winds make getting offshore difficult but there's plenty of action in the shallows. Roosterfish and Snook are biting hard in the river mouths while Mackerel and Jacks hunt in the bays.

The deep sea fun can still be patchy in February. When it's good, it's really good. When it's not, you can chase monster Roosterfish and Snook in the shallows instead.

Jack Crevalle, Snook, Roosterfish, and Sierra Mackerel are all on form this time of year. The reefs are always productive and the offshore bite gets more reliable as the winds start to die down.

April is the hottest month of the year in Costa Rica. It's also the last of the dry season, so make the most of the sunny skies and hit the water for a deep sea or inshore sight fishing trip.

The big game season really gets going in May, with Sailfish, Black and Blue Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, and Wahoo. You couldn't ask for a better cast of characters!

All your favorite pelagic predators are going strong offshore while the reefs start filling up with tasty Red and Cubera Snappers. Inshore, there are always some Roosters and Snook to fight.

Locals commemorate Guanacaste's annexation to Costa Rica from Nicaragua on the 25th. That's not the only thing worth celebrating – Blue Marlin are in their prime this time of year!

The Presidential Flamingo Fishing Rodeo is the biggest event in the Playa Flamingo fishing calendar. Anglers join from across the country and far beyond to take on the area's huge Billfish.

The rains are at their heaviest in September, taking the humidity through the roof. Escape offshore to get some air or jump in the water after battling Snook and Roosterfish inshore.

The rains dump all kinds of flotsam into the water, making the perfect hunting grounds for big Mahi Mahi. Turn these predators into your prey and enjoy some amazing FAD fishing offshore!

Can't face another Turkey this year? Hit the reefs to reel in Cubera Snapper, Broomtail Grouper, and Amberjack instead. You're in for a real feast after one of these thrilling nearshore trips.

Clear skies, 90-degree sunshine, warm, clear seas – can you think of a better place to spend the holiday season than Playa Flamingo? As if that wasn't enough, Snook and Roosters are back in force!

Kick off the year with screaming drag and multiple hookups of Wahoo, Sailfish, and Mahi Mahi, with the constant chance of a Marlin making each bite even more exciting.

Can you think of anything more romantic than cruising out to the beautiful beaches of Tortuga Island next Valentine's Day? How about battling monster pelagics offshore? OK, Maybe not romantic, but certainly fun!

March is the driest month of the year in Costa Rica, making for great fishing both inshore and offshore. Sight fish for Roosterfish and Snook inshore, or troll for Billfish, Wahoo, and Mahi Mahi offshore.

April is tournament season in Quepos, with the IGFA World Championships taking center stage among the many Billfishing competitions in the area. This also makes April a very expensive time to visit.

Blue Marlin really hit their stride in Quepos by May, joined by big Yellowfin Tuna and the permanent populations of Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, and Wahoo. The reefs and shallows are also packed with great fish.

The high chance of rain can sometimes wash out the best fishing offshore, but you can always hit the reefs for some tasty Snapper. If you're up for a fight, fish the river mouths for big Roosterfish.

The rain usually drops off slightly in July, ahead of the biggest downpours of rainy season. Blue and Black Marlin are both around in big numbers this time of year, so take your chance and get out there!

August is much the same as any month in Quepos, meaning that it's amazing! Fish inshore for Roosterfish, Snook, and Jacks, hit the reefs for Snapper, Grouper, and Barracuda, or head offshore for big Billfish.

All of Central America gained independence on the same day in 1821. These days, September 15 is celebrated with parades, fairs, music, and dancing. Combine your angling adventure with a fiesta!

The bite may slow up offshore in October, but things never get dull inshore. You could spend the rest of your life here and never get bored of the awesome inshore species like Roosterfish and Cubera Snapper.

The rain finally drops off in November, making heading offshore more feasible. As always, you'll be met by a great mixed group of pelagic species, including Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, and Marlin.

Beautiful green countryside, a sunny 85 degrees, world-class fishing.. if Quepos isn't at the top of your list for the holiday season it certainly should be! It won't exactly be a White Christmas, but you'll manage.
