Shearwater Fishing Charters

This was a first time experience for my kids and i , and we’ve got to say that it was a great experience.. our captain Drew was amazing lots of fun and definitely planning again very soon.

First Family Fishing Trip!

Dive into the new year with the annual Wrightsville Plunge. This charity event sees hundreds of people brave the water in support of local causes. Not recommended after extended new year celebrations!

February is lowest of the low season in Wrightsville Beach but that just means more water for you! Target Striped Bass, Flounder, and Red Drum inshore or head out in search of monster Bluefin Tuna.

The fishing starts to pick up in may, with Barracuda swarming the reefs and big Bull Sharks fighting hard in the shallows. This is also your last chance to battle Bluefin before they disappear north.

The Cape Fear Blue Marlin Tournament is held at the end of April and has been drawing anglers from around the country for almost half a century. Expect big catches and some serious competition!

The reefs have really got going by May, with Amberjack, Barracuda, King Mackerel, Snapper, Grouper, and more. Head further out, and you are greeted by Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, and Marlin.

Spanish Mackerel is the species in the sights of the local tournaments in June. The Seapath Marina & Wide Open Tech Spanish Mackerel Tournaments both promise great fishing for these tasty fish.

The great thing about having quite so many marinas is that there's always a competition on. In June, the Capt. Eddy Haneman Sailfishing Tournament offers great pelagic action for monster Sailfish.

The Wrightsville Beach Inshore Challenge invites you to try your luck fishing for big Red Drum and Flounder. The low buy-in and great prizes make this the perfect tournament for amateurs and old-timers alike.

September is peak season for big 'smoker' King Mackerel, and the cooler weather makes fighting all the more enjoyable. Kingfish are an NC specialty and well worth targeting while you're in town.

The Kappa Alpha Redfish Fishing Tournament invites you to help raise money for local charities by catching huge Red Drum. Sounds like a win-win to us!

The Flat Bottom Girls Flounder Tournament raises money and awareness for aquatic conservation in November, while the North Carolina Holiday Flotilla makes for a memorable Thanksgiving on the water.

Take your pick of great fishing in December, with monster Striped Bass, huge Bluefin Tuna, and more Speckled Trout that you can shake your rod at! You'll certainly have plenty of food this Christmas!
