Day 2 Change of Species

Day 2 with Frank McCreery and his family was a perfect way to wrap up their trip. The trout stayed hungry, keeping everyone busy throughout the morning. Before heading in, we decided to add a little more excitement by hooking into a couple of bull redfish. There’s nothing quite like hearing the drag scream after a morning of catching trout. It was great having Frank and his family back after all these years. Seeing returning guests leave with smiles, coolers full of fish, and new memories is one of the best parts of this job. Thank you again for making the trip from Virginia. I hope it won’t be long before we do it all again!

Day 1 with Frank McCreery and his family was one I had been looking forward to. Frank and his family traveled down from Virginia and hadn’t fished with me in several years. It’s always special when returning guests come back after a long break, and this trip picked up right where the last one left off. Once we figured out the pattern, everyone got in on steady action and caught some quality fish. Watching families reconnect over a great day on the water is one of the best parts of being a guide. Frank, thank you and your family for making the trip back to South Louisiana. It was a pleasure having y’all aboard again, and I hope it won’t be as long before the next visit!

This trip was a perfect example of why patience pays off in South Louisiana. I recently helped with a multi-boat group, and our first stop was nearly a bust. With lots of boat traffic and very little tidal movement, we bounced around looking for the right conditions while waiting for the current to pick up. As I was running between spots, I noticed the tide had finally started moving. We stopped, made a few casts, and it was game on. The trout were absolute studs, and the crew stayed busy catching fish as fast as they could—despite a few sharks trying to steal our catch before we could get them to the net. Trips like these remind you that sometimes one well-timed move can completely change the day. Great crew, great fishing, and another memorable day in the Louisiana marsh.
