Disappointed in results

Half Day Trolling Trip (AM)4 adults

While the captain and first mate were extremely professional and kind, we caught no fish. I booked the charter desiring only to focus on mahi and wahoo. After booking the charter the captain reached out to me and said we needed to pay more to go deeper and find the mahi but we were never more than 1 mile off the coast. Not sure why I needed to pay an additional $125 for that. While I understand catching fish is never guaranteed, it was very disappointing to come back empty handed and nothing to show for it after spending $650 total. I also communicated in advance about our desire to catch mahi and was encouraged that it was likely to snag them. Had I known it was unlikely to catch them, I would have postponed the trip until later in the year. The captain did say we could try for AJs but I communicated early we did not want those as we won’t eat them. Again, the captain and boat were great. Just feel I was overcharged and given some false hope of the outcome.

Sorry you feel this way Aaron. You stated that we caught no fish. Can you please explain. Do you mean no fish for the table. The mahi we caught was undersized and by law we can’t keep them. Bonita is not recommended to be eaten. We did hook a wahoo and your son left the reel. We can’t control that. The reason you paid extra is because you booked a bottom trip and not an offshore trip. I explained we don’t catch mahi on the bottom that we need to troll or fish structure. Believe it or not we did go out to 550 feet were we jigged for tuna and saw porpoises. Unfortunately, mahi bite was slow due to a weather conditions. I also gave you and your family an additional half on the house do to slower fishing conditions. Sorry for any confusion Captain Jim

    Reeling in fish 10 minutes into the trip!

    Captain Jim takes the time to understand your expectations of the trip and then just delivers a great time. We told him we were interested in catching our dinner, but that more than anything we wanted to hook some fish and he made sure we did both! He has back up plans for his back up plans, making the charter tailored to the needs of his clients. Right off the bat both my BF and I were pulling in 18 pound fish - not eating fish but one box checked right away. I get terribly seasick but made it a full hour before needing to get to smoother seas, captain Jim had a number of options for every situation and we were so appreciative of his ability to quickly accommodate us at every turn. He is very knowledgeable about the ocean, fishing and the surrounding area, and if you are interested shares his knowledge, including all the fish tales you could ask for (with pictures to prove it). We felt like we were talking with an old friend and just had a ridiculously great time. The charter ended with us taking home well cleaned and prepared Mahi Mahi which we chose to cook ourselves (although he also has many options of places that will prepare it for you if you just prefer it on a plate. I could not recommend 4Js and captain Jim more, do yourself a favor and book today. Then talk with him about your trip so you get exactly what you want - he delivers!

    Tough day but Captain Jimmy didn’t quit

    3/4 Day Trolling Trip • 4 adults

    It was a tough day with the fish not biting, possibly due to a weather front moving in the next day, but Captain Jimmy wouldn’t give up. We went to a bunch of his known spots and tried multiple fishing techniques and we were able to catch five different species of fish with three keepers and great eating. Captain Jimmy is a good guy that will pull out all the stops to make sure you have a great catch, even if the fish don’t want to cooperate. Had a great day on the ocean with family and friends and look forward to future fishing trips with Captain Jimmy.

    Captain Jim was very attentive to our needs. He was knowledgeable and outgoing, making our trip amazing! He truly cares about his passengers. For my son’s 21st birthday, Captain Jim went above and beyond to make it special. I will definitely book with him again and highly recommend this charter!

    Captain Jim is awesome!

    4 Hour Jigging Trip (PM) - 2 Person • 2 adults

    A good friend and I booked a 3 hour jigging charter with Captain Jim. Due to a booking error on my part, our availabilities didn’t match and we were headed out the day we could make our trip. Jim not only met us early, but put everything he had into putting us on fish. We trolled with planer rods, top water, everything we could outside of jigging as the jigging had been slow. We landed a few Bonita, but not a trophy. That is not from lack of effort on the part of our captain. You will not be disappointed with a trip out with 4 J’s! I plan to keep an open line of communication with Jim as he’s just that awesome of a guy, truly passionate about what he does and it seems to be his enjoyment that his charters have a great time with him.
