Florida Keys Fishing Report
The summer sun is heating up, and the fish are biting!
We’re seeing a strong flow of Sargassum grass this season, with weed lines filling many of our beaches and channels. Finding clean water and moving current has become a key factor to success. Having live bait—or the ability to catch it—continues to give anglers a huge advantage.
The Snapper bite has been a bit slower due to weak currents, so we’ve been putting out a spread and covering all the bases. This week we found a beautiful 24-inch Red Grouper along with some nice Mangrove Snapper in the backcountry.
Positioning the boat and presenting baits properly has been the difference-maker. There are plenty of fish to be found, but avoiding slack tides and targeting deeper channels where fish seek cooler water will greatly improve your chances.
Summer fishing is in full swing, and there are still plenty of opportunities to put together a great catch.
