Mahi Mahi & Shark Action at La Herradura

On June 4, we departed Cabo San Lucas heading south. At approximately 3 miles offshore, a striped marlin aggressively struck the rigger bait, but after the initial hookup, it crossed the line and broke free, costing us the fish. We then changed course west and continued fishing off the Diamante area. About 4 miles from shore, another striped marlin attacked the rigger bait. This time, after a great fight, we successfully brought the fish alongside the boat and released it in excellent condition. On the run back toward Cabo, while working the 3-mile line, we had one final encounter with another striped marlin that aggressively followed the trolling lures but refused to commit. On June 26, we departed Cabo San Lucas running a heading of 210°, making our way toward the waters off the Hard Rock Hotel. Once in the area, we worked closer to shore, where the action began. A striped marlin aggressively struck a Rapala lure, leading to an exciting fight. While battling the fish, another striped marlin surfaced actively feeding nearby. We quickly pitched a live bait to the second fish, and it immediately took the bait, giving us two marlin hooked at the same time. After an unforgettable double hookup, both fish were successfully brought alongside the boat. We started the day heading toward La Herradura, trolling offshore in search of pelagic species. Early in the trip, we were rewarded with an aggressive strike from a beautiful wahoo, which put up a fast and exciting fight before being successfully landed. As we continued working the area, we added two skipjack tuna to the day’s catch, providing steady action before beginning our return to Cabo San Lucas Marina.
