Around here, the fishing is popular for Walleye, Yellow Perch, and more. For these species, you're likely to jig, cast, or troll using light tackle.
If you're traveling with the family, you will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard, and USCG approved life jackets are provided. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty belly!
Your adventure begins aboard a 27' Sportcraft that holds up to 6 passengers. It comes with all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures and live bait
There will be a First Mate on board to help your trip run smoothly. Mates, work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.
You need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain.
It's recommended to bring sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation. Just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Two Day Trip with Capt. Mike Lopinski
6 Hour Trip – Perch/Walleye on мај 18, 2025
We had a fabulous time on our most recent walleye fishing trip. We tried JEM sportfishing. We had heard great things about Mike, his knowledge of Lake Erie and his ability to put us on the fish. First day was a slow bite based on weather changes, but day 2 was fabulous! Highly recommend Capt Mike and Gem Sportfishing to anyone looking to have a successful fishing trip. Thanks Capt. Mike!!!

Yes, I would be glad to give a review regarding my fishing trips with Captain Mike on the Erie Jem. But first a disclaimer should anyone happen to ask. My two trips were last year in 2024 before he secured his charter license but yes they were on the Erie Jem. The first trip targeted walleye and the second was for perch. Both were half day morning trips. Both were hugely successful and a lot of fun. The Charter may be new but Captain Mike has been fishing for many years in Lake Erie and is well schooled in fishing and better yet well connected with the local fisherman and Charter Captains. Fishing locations are based on where the locals are catching fish, not necessarily where most of the boats happen to congregate. Fifteen minutes and no fish and believe me, you are up and moving to a new spot.
The Erie Jem appears to be very well outfitted and super clean. Lots of room for fishing and big enough for the wacky waves of Lake Erie and yet fast enough to get back to harbor when the weather prediction falls short. Enjoy your Charter.

Had a blast on captain Mike's charter with a great group of friends. We caught limits on perch and many great memories to remember. Highly recommended. Great Time!
