Red Hunter Fishing Charters runs private fishing trips off the beautiful Algarve coast. Based in Olhão, Skipper João Graça will do all in his power so you have a productive trip full of fun in the rich waters of the Atlantic Ocean!
The captain fishes from a 38' Hatteras Convertible named the Red Tuna that can take up to 6 guests. The boat was fully restored in 2024 and it runs on twin 485 HP GM-Detroit engines. It features Raymarine and Furuno navigation technology and safety gear (including adult and kid-size life jackets). The boat also comes with a toilet for your comfort and all the equipment that helps Skipper João make your fishing experience the best possible – including a fighting chair, outriggers, a live bait tank, and an ice-box.
You'll be exploring the best inshore and offshore spots in search of the area's best species. Depending on the conditions, you could be reeling in the likes of Marlin, Tuna, Mahi Mahi, and others! The techniques you can use include bottom fishing, jigging on light and heavy tackle, along with fly fishing, and more.
The crew provides top-quality Shimano and Penn gear and various lures and bait. The trip price also includes snacks, drinks, and fishing licenses. Keep in mind that fly fishing gear is not provided and that you'll need to bring your own if you'd like to fly fish.

We had an absolutely fantastic day out with Red Hunter and couldn’t recommend Captain Claudio and his team highly enough. From the moment we stepped on board, we were made to feel incredibly welcome. The day started with a wonderful breakfast, which set the tone for what turned out to be an exceptional experience from start to finish. Captain Claudio and the crew got us fishing almost immediately, and we were catching fish straight away. Their knowledge, professionalism and enthusiasm were evident throughout the day. The team were constantly on hand to help, changing bait, offering advice, adjusting tackle and moving to different locations to keep us on the fish. Nothing was too much trouble. The lunch prepared on board was absolutely delicious and a real highlight of the day. As for the fishing itself, it exceeded all expectations. Between the four of us, we must have caught around 100 fish, with an incredible variety of different species throughout the day. The combination of great hospitality, expert local knowledge, outstanding service and fantastic fishing made for a truly memorable trip. We would highly recommend Red Hunter to anyone looking for a first-class fishing charter experience. We’ll definitely be back and are already looking forward to booking a tuna fishing trip with Captain Claudio and the team in the near future.

We loved our trip with Captain Claudio and Jon. We did both bottom fishing where we caught in a ton of Sophia fish and Mackerels. We then trolled for big game fish but it was the beginning of the season so not so much luck there. The captain and mate prepared a wonderful spread of bread cheeses, meats, fruits and veggies with beer and water. They were also very helpful with checking the bait on our lines. Would highly recommend if you visit the Algarve region. Awesome!

Capitaine Claudio and his fantastic crew have made this expedition a unique journey. We knew we were early for tuna fishing so Claudio did recommend a great mix to ensure we would bring back a diner first, than go chasing for tuna. No tuna, but tons of fish for the BBQ tonight. I truely recommend this boat and crew, they explode the standards.

We had a wonderful day with Claudio! We were a party of 6 with various experience levels in fishing. It was a bit too windy to fish for snapper, so we instead fished closer to shore for sea bream and caught a variety of fish. Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack were provided, quite tasty. A great option for experienced fishermen or those simply looking for an enjoyable day on the water!
The captain and crew made sure we had a fantastic day! They put us on to a huge number of good sized fish on our reef jigging trip. The boat was big and comfortable and the food was excellent. The 5 of us had a great time catching many species of fish, all day long. I can’t say enough good things about this charter experience. Thanks again for a great day!
