8 hours Offshore trip woth Captain Adam
We booked a trip with Captain Adam, and he was incredible from start to finish. He took care of everything—baiting hooks, setting lines, and keeping the energy high. We caught a ton of fish and made great memories that will last a lifetime. If you are looking for a top-notch guide who is professional, patient, and knowledgeable, Captain Adam is your guy. O Silk Snapper ribolovu
Recognizable by their vibrant, pinkish-red bodies, Silk Snapper (Lutjanus vivanus) is a deep-water species belonging to the Snapper (Lutjanidae) family. With bright yellow eyes and elongated dorsal fins, they shouldn't be confused with their relatives like Red Snapper, especially as anglers are most likely to find them in deep, offshore waters.
Swimming at depths exceeding 300 feet, Silk Snapper are among the deeper Snapper species you can find. This deep habitat – along with their cautious feeding behavior – makes them a rewarding catch for those who venture into offshore fishing for them.
How big?
Despite living at great depths, Silk Snapper aren't among the biggest Snapper out there. They generally range from 12–28 inches in length, weighing between 5 and 13 pounds. Larger specimens can occasionally reach up to 22 pounds, however, with the world-record catch weighing 20 pounds.
Distribution
Popular from the southeastern US down to Brazil, you're most likely to find Silk Snapper on an offshore trip in the Gulf of Mexico/America and the Caribbean Sea. They prefer deep offshore reefs, ledges, and rocky bottoms at depths of 300–1,000 feet, where they school and feed on squid, smaller fish, and crustaceans.
How to Catch
Since Silk Snapper dwell at great depths, you'll want to try deep dropping to target them. Heavy tackle equipped with electric or high-capacity reels is preferred for reaching their habitat. Baited circle hooks with cut fish, squid, or live bait are effective, while deep-sea jigs can also entice bites.
Good to eat?
As with most Snapper species, Silk Snapper is highly regarded for its delicate, flaky white flesh and mild, slightly sweet flavor. It's a common choice for ceviche and sashimi, and is less likely to cause poisoning due to their deepwater habitats.
