Kao rođeni Havajac i sin ribara, štap za pecanje držao sam od najranijih sećanja. Pecao sam sa ocem širom sveta, uključujući Indijski okean, Havaje, Bengalski zaliv, Sijamski zaliv, zapadnu obalu SAD. Kako sam postajao stariji, privlačnost pecanja u Cabo San Lukasu postala je moj san, počeo sam u floti 1983. godine, preselio se na Rt i nikada se nisam osvrnuo. Prošle su 34 godine intenzivnog pecanja po poluostrvu Baha, Kortezovom moru i zapadnoj obali kopnenog Meksika. Život je lep i sutra smo ponovo napolju!
Tehnike
Na brodu Picudo koristimo različite tehnike pecanja. One variraju u zavisnosti od godišnjeg doba i ribe koju lovimo. Veliki smo ljubitelji vuče mrtvih mamaca, tizera, dizi čejnova, kao i varalica, i uvek imamo svežeg mamca u rezervoaru spremnog za bacanje! Pecamo krupnu ribu na otvorenom moru i sitnu ribu lakim priborom uz obalu. Specijalizovani smo za pecanje sa decom, nema ničeg boljeg nego kad mali drugari zavole pecanje za ceo život. Dobrodošli su i početnici, a mi smo željni da prenesemo naše znanje.

Tehnike

Dobrodošli su i početnici, a mi smo željni da prenesemo naše znanje.

We were first ones out and it was a delight to finally see a calmer ocean. We knew it wouldn’t last long so we took advantage of the time landing 3 nice Dorado and a marlin before 0630! It was a great start to the day. The first one is always the hardest one!! We were fortunate to have a good bite close to shore (2-3 miles) as the wind and swell farther out was shredding big time. We followed the ledge inside the Sea of Cortez and rousted up a fat dorado and another marlin release. As the wind angle changed it started to pound us pretty good. We pounded into busting water and were able to go 1 for 3 on the marlin bites and had another release. Then Mother Nature turned on the fan and it was ripping. We trolled closer inshore getting a few more bites and another dorado in the bag! We finished up our day heading back to the Cape taking some big ones over the bow and blowing spray all yhe way up to ghe flybridge. It was nice to finally pull into the calm of the bay. Matthew and the boys did a fantastic job catching a bagfull of nice dorado and getting multiple marlin releases! And yes we do tag and release the marlin as we’re long time members of the Billfish Foundation! Let em go and let em grow! Anyway it was a fab day on the water despite get shalacked and pummeled for awhile! Another great day in San Lucas! Yarrrr! ?‍☠️?‍☠️

As we rounded the corner towards the Pacific side we were greeted by a gourmet sunrise and flat seas. We threw the feathers and ballyhoos in and it wasn’t long before we had smallgame breaking water around us. The reels screamed as the bonitos hit. But here came fat by sea lion to rob us and we only oulled in heads. We turned to leave the ares and bam we were bit. A nice Dorado came in and for some reason the sea lion let us have it. Prolly still chowin the bonitos..So with dinner in the bag we headed offshore and man did it turn on! We ended up 5 for 9 on the Dorado with a couple of nice bulls in there. A nice Mako Shark was a treat too, but we let it go as theyre out of season until the end of July. Todd and the gang had a blast and topped their personal best with the Dorado! So with a nice load onboard we headed back to the marina and were tied up by 10:30. Can’t beat that for a quick halfday! The pristine conditions as well as great people always make for a fab fishing day in Cabo!!

I knew it was going to be a good day as we drove by the oíd tuna processing plant and saw a school of dorado shredding on the bait! As soon as we rounded the arch and were putting the lines out, a fat dorado smoked the short ballyhoo. And so began an epic day! In the end we ended 6 for 10 with dorsdo up to 30 lbs, 2 marlin tagged and released, and a release on a nice silky shark. Even though we had to bust water in the late morning wind, it was well worth it and the Boston boyz were on their game! Its nice to have the bite back on after a slow couple weeks. This should hold through the next few weeks as our sea temperatures keep creeping up. Fab job, Guys, and another great day onboard Picudo!

We had a great trip fishing with Ali and the boyz from Denver! We headed into the Sea of Cortez and started inshore with light tackle targeting dorado, rockfish, grouper, and snappers. It was little slow but we riusted up a dorado, 14 triggerfish, and 2 mini groupers which we released. We couldn’t get the rock piles to produce so we headed offshore in the late morning looking for larger spieces . About 4 miles out we started to see bait busting and put in some serious time working the area. We had great results picking up a nice dorado and went 1 for 2 on wahoo which was a nice 55 pounder! As we headed back we decided to run up the edge of the canyon and man did that pay off! We picked up a couple of quality dorado to end the day on a great note! Conditions were pristine with sea temps pudhing 80, calm winds, and flat seas! The boyz took their fish to be processed a will be taking home a load if gourmet filets!! Now that was a productive day!!

TS Ivo blew past us without consequence, and they finally opened the port. We got a late start, blasted by the Cape Rocks, and busted some water out to the 95 spot. It was time to chase some billfish. Sea temps were in the mid 80s and conditions were perfect. We just barely had the lures, ballyhoos, and teasers in the water when we had a nice one come rippin in on the port teaser! We dropped a couple of live baits back but could'nt dupe it into biting! We made to the 95 and went into full tack mode working the high spot for a couple hours. I turned around looking into the pattern and saw a boil on the stinger long. I quickly grabbed the rod and free spooled the sewed bait ballyhoo back a few feet, set the drag, came up taught, and that fish was hung!! Bart was in the chair and did a great job working the fish. 17 minutes later we released a nice 90-100 lb. Striped Marlin! Nice one, Bart! After the normal congrats we got back to it, raising and hooking another nice one, unfortunately we dumped it after a few minutes. That's fishing! So we opted for a beach run to end the day. We switched over to the 30 set ups hoping for a wahoo or dorado but it was not to be. We headed in after a great day of action. The boys were stoked especially Bart who nailed his 1st marlin. We swung into the harbor, gave Pancho the sealion our extra bait and headed to the slip.And so ended another classic day in Cabo San Lucas! The last I saw of the boys, they were quickly heading off for an late afternoon t-time at the golf course. Gotta love Summer at the Cape! Hard to beat that!! Saludos!!

We were on a quick halfday with Jim and Meagan so it was a repeat of yesterdays fishing plan. We put the light taclke setups out as we turned north pass the Cape Rocks. Conditions were gourmet with calm seas, 85 degree water, and all around perfect conditions! We couldnt get a bite for the life of us! I was observing the other boats in the area and it seemed no one was gotting bit. We moved back in closer iinto 10 to 15 fathoms and it was an instant bite. The fish had followed the bait into the shallows! Jim was up and had a nice tuna onboard in minutes. We were no sooner back to trolling speed when the reels were screaming! Triple hookup! Meagan was all over it and bagged her tuna, and we dumped the other two. We noticed the other boats move into the area and after a few more short bites the fish were down and tight lipped. Boat pressure the last couple of days has really affected the bite. So we switched over to the 30 lb. setups and headed out for dorado and maybe a sailfish. We had a couple of ballyhoos whistlin in the riggers and some choice small lures ripoin in the wake. I saw the rigger bend back and heard the snap as a dorado ripped bigtime on the ballyhoo! Jim was up and had a great fight as the mahi was jumping all over. We got it to gaff and into the boat! After a quick sombrero pic we were back at the troll. We moved out to about 2 miles and continued to work the ledge off the northside of Cabo Falso. We raised a few morevfish but had the rubber hook syndrome. These fish were short biting and it was hard to get the hook set. Even our drop back live baits were being gummed by these golden grabbers! Tough going! We did finally get a couple of dorados and on the troll back in we nailed a blindstrike tuna. The bag was filled but overall it was a tough day to finally get our limits! The moon is growing so fishing should get tougher. Fortunately there is a huge quantity of fish here and we'll still have good fishing. The offshore billfishing is good so theres an option. The Blue Marlin bite well on a full moon!! September continues to be epic! Thanks to Jim and Meagen for a fantastic day out fishing. We cant wait to get back out there!!
